To make a difference in the Lives of Others throughService, Amicae and Zetas, Hand in Hand WorkingTogether, A cultivation of “Friendships for Life.”The Zeta Amicae is a group of women organized as an Auxiliaryunder the guidelines of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated andare affiliated through local Zeta chapters. The purpose of ZetaAmicae is to lend assistance to Zeta activities, to promote goodpublic relations among Zetas and other women in thecommunity, to make women who are not affiliated with a Greekletter organization feel closer to the programs of a Greek group,and to assure more cooperation in community affairssponsored by Zetas.Empowering Amicae to be Leaders and Servants in theirCommunities Through Education, Communication,Evaluating, Elevating and Re-Branding.

As early as 1940, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated had begun torealize the importance of the prestige, good will, unity, andcooperation of women who for various reasons were not members ofany Greek-letter organizations.These women were organized into auxiliaries, but it wasn’t until1948 when Grand President, Lullelia Harrison included in her reportto the 1948 Boule’ in session, a recommendation that chapters beallowed to organize auxiliaries and all such auxiliaries be known asZeta “Amicae” (Friends of Zeta).Today Amicae Auxiliaries are in all eight regions of Zeta Phi BetaSorority, Incorporated and have and continue to render invaluablecommunity service and thousands of dollars helping Zeta Phi BetaSorority, Incorporated extend their outreach to the communitieswhere they live and serve.Zeta values our Amicae and embraces the concept that all women, nomatter their educational level, have the ability to reach their fullpotential in all areas of their lives to create and achieve unlimitedopportunities. On Friday, November 15, 2024, a historic milestone was achievedwith the granting of the charter for Zeta Amicae of Hoover. Theofficial chartering ceremony took place the following day, Saturday,November 16, 2024, during the Alabama State Leadership Conferencein Birmingham, Alabama held the BJCC. Presided over by thedistinguished South Central Regional Director, Kenya L. Washington,the event marked a momentous occasion for the auxiliary.Attendees included members of Psi Upsilon Zeta, along with a host ofhonored guests who gathered to witness and celebrate the occasion.The founding charter was bestowed upon a group of eight dedicatedwomen who would serve as the inaugural members, laying thefoundation for a legacy of service and sisterhood within theHoover/Shelby County community.
