Independent Distribution Collective presents our 70th Solicitation just in time for late Winter and early Spring placement (our first of 2016). We are excited about many of these new releases and are very proud to have a handful of great artists joining IDC. Tim Hockenberry - Tim Hockenberry CD
Tim Hockenberry is a talented and versatile multi-instrumentalist singer and songwriter whose voice is reminiscent of Ray Charles, Joe Cocker, and Tom Waits. He is releasing Tim Hockenberry, his self-titled debut album of all original music, worldwide on March 4th, 2016. He is also a gifted interpreter of well-known cover songs, and you only need to hear a few bars of Hockenberry singing 'I Left My Heart In San Francisco' to understand that this is an artist who has a refreshingly authentic approach to great songs. Tim gained international fame when he performed and made it to the semi-finals (last singer standing) on America’s Got Talent in 2012, where he was a favorite of judge Howard Stern.

Razteria - Aventurera CD
Razteria (aka Renée Asteria) can be described as a fusion of early No Doubt, Steel Pulse, Los Aterciopelados, and Marissa Monte. This album is groundbreaking in its richness, showcasing a collaborative synergy with talented independent artists from the SF Bay Area and beyond, including: Sang Matiz, Rahman Jamaal, Carolyn Smith, Chatterbox, Seneca, as well as Waddell Bell and Lou Neuburger (Fyah Squad Band), Raliegh Neal (Michael Franti and Spearhead), Jayme Arredondo (Don Carlos), Joe Newton (drums), Anthony Ant (trumpet), Dave Eagle (percussion), and Luke Thomas (guitar). Razteria has opened for and performed with Grammy award winning Reggae artist Michael Rose, popular UK/JA lover’s rock Lloyd Brown, The Garifuna Collective from Belize and others. Her music has been featured on MTV’s True Life series as well as a few independent films.

Omari Banks - Move On Deluxe Edition CD
With a simple musical mission, to spread messages of love and consciousness, Omari Banks assimilation of traditional Jamaican Reggae music accentuated with Rock and Blues backbeats is an adult contemporary fusion that blends seamlessly with Lovers Rock and R n’ B. Omari released his “Move On Deluxe Edition” with added new music and a compilation of music videos in this set with the hopes of reaching a bigger audience through a more global approach. The lead single No Point To Prove featuring Peetah Morgan (Morgan Heritage fame) made serious inroads in his native Caribbean Islands and across the US, UK, and Europe. Omari supported the release with a series of electrifying live performances as he continued to spread his message all across the world.

Mighty Mystic's "The Art of Balance" album is sure to be a bright light for the reggae genre as it is in the vein of what we all love about reggae music, but with a little "Mighty" sprinkled throughout. ORGY has been writing and recording over the past couple of years and this new music will be coming by way of 2 EPs. The first 7-track EP is titled “TALK SICK” (the second EP is tentatively titled “ENTROPY"). The Physical CD and vinyl release was August 21, 2015. This EP is a musical collaboration written by Carlton Bost, Bobby Amaro, Nic Speck, Creighton Emrick and Jay Gordon. The new sound for ORGY has great lyrics, melodies, and heavy guitars. ORGY is featured in Runway Magazine’s spring issue and is touring the USA in major markets throughout 2015 and 2016.

In the summer of 2015, Cobham released a live CD recording from last years' celebrated Spectrum 40 tours, which dazzled audiences around the world in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Spectrum CD, the defining album of the jazz-fusion genre. Ever since his breakthrough in the early 1970s-as a founding member of the Mahavishnu Orchestra, and as a drummer/leader whose recordings (such as Spectrum) and powerful, complex style of play exerted a strong influence on the course of jazz and jazz-fusion-Billy Cobham has remained a tireless musical explorer.

Hip-Hop group Zion I continued to forge new ground musically on their LP Shadowboxing, a beat-heavy hip-hop album decidedly grittier than past projects. Always pushing the literal—and figurative—needle forward, the duo, consisting of emcee Zumbi and producer Amp Live, have once again created something experimental and heartfelt. Shadowboxing features guests such as Bassnectar, Collie Buddz, Grouch and Eligh, and Goapele.

Ray Manzarek and Roy Rogers have received no shortage of kudos for their release Twisted Tales, a collaboration of keyboard and guitar sounds that merge with stories, images and art. Mickey Hart Band - Mysterium Tremendum CD TSP#0101 IDC#0478
On Mysterium Tremendum, The Mickey Hart Band consists of Widespread Panic bassist Dave Schools, Grammy winning percussionist and longtime band mate Sikiru Adepoju, Tony Award winning vocalist Crystal Monee Hall, singer Tim Hockenberry, drummer Ian "Inx" Herman, guitarist Gawain Matthews, and keyboardist / producer, Ben Yonas. Mysterium Tremendum will be released by Hart's own 360° Productions. The album, recorded at Hart's Studio X in Sonoma County, CA, was co-produced by Hart and Ben Yonas. Special guests Steve Kimock, Reed Mathis appear on select tracks as well as long time collaborators, Zakir Hussain, and Giovanni Hidalgo.

A longstanding member of the Santana band, Bill Ortiz is proud to present his full-length release titled Highest Wish. A follow up to his “Winter in America” EP released earlier that year, this album project features conscious emcees such as Casual, The Grouch, Zumbi (Zion I) and K-Maxx, as well as fellow Santana member (and 11 time Grammy® Award Winner) Tony Lindsey, and iconic poet vocalist Linda Tillery, featured on a spoken word performance of Dr. Martin Luther King's Nobel Peace Prize speech. “Carlos has always used music to inspire and bring people together,” explains Ortiz. “I try to follow in that tradition. I’ve been really inspired by some of the Bay Area hip-hop artists like Casual, Zumbi and the Grouch.
