CARING FOR VICTIMS OF ABUSE Providing domestic violence sexual assault and human trafficking services Thank you for all of your support and help it was exactly what I needed in a time where I felt my worst Client Domestic Assault Program 542 Clients of intimate partner violence received supportive services Sexual Assault Program Therapy 1 626 Hours of therapeutic services were provided to 210 victims survivors of abuse 192 Clients received Sexual Assault Nurse Examinations SANE in a supportive setting through our partnership with Sexual Assault Services of Battle Creek and Bronson Healthcare Human Trafficking Program 1st shelter in Michigan was opened by the YWCA for labor and sex trafficking survivors Supportive services including legal advocacy case management and therapy were provided to 29 clients 5 HOUSING SERVICES CRISIS INTERVENTION 2 102 Calls taken by our 24 hour crisis line from victims friends and family to secure services and referrals 20 889 Nights of emergency shelter and support 636 Legal 126 Clients received 1 086 instances of free legal representation and consultation on family law crime victims rights housing laws personal protection orders and immigration matters 24 hour Crisis Line Advocacy Emergency Response Emergency Shelter Housing Shelter Children received emergency shelter and support 399 Adults A 10 year old victim of sexual assault read a survivor letter in the self care kits she received after a sexual assault exam She immediately looked at her grandma and said How do they know me It was the beginning point in her journey of healing received emergency shelter and support Individual Group Counseling Legal Services Prevention Therapy 6

ADVOCACY SYSTEMS CHANGE Creating a just community through addressing systems that cause racial and gender disparities Community Education Training 4 617 Community members participated in 104 presentations I raise up my voice not so that I can shout but so that those without a voice can be heard Malala Yousafzai 70 Staff members attended the Racial Equity Training which focuses on internal transformation to elevate racial equity among staff Prevention Education 2 545 Students attended 102 classroom presentations at local elementary middle and high schools as well as youth organizations colleges and universities in Kalamazoo County Advocacy and Public Policy YWCA Kalamazoo was selected to represent Michigan as 1 of 3 pilot states for an advocacy initiative to eliminate policies and practices that criminalize youth of color Staff spent 29 hours engaging with elected officials to positively affect systems change related to education human trafficking and domestic violence 9 The Presenter did a great job reminding participants of ways we may have biases and how to overcome them Participant Training Community Education Advocacy 10
