Gaming There are games like Counter Strike Global Offense League of Legends which are skill and strategy based and is very competitive Gaming in Sport Now both of those games hold tournaments around the world and if you do well you can be sponsored and get paid to play in tournaments like that and get money prizes making you able to create a career E sports is the term used to describe this new world of competitive gaming G aming although it doesn t require physical activity it requires skill and strategy Sport is an activity performed that requires skill or physical strength and is often competitive Gaming has two characteristics of sport which are competitiveness and skill making gaming a sport This month s game review Ar cle by Miguel Rodrigues 18 game boring On the other hand I do have to give a lot of credit to the bright and laser like visuals It really captures the futuristic look while keeping some low key lighting in the game putting the player in the mood that Prey intends to show The plot for the videogame is also beautifully written and the story behind the game is executed with a good balance of action and adventure PREY is a first person action adventure video game developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bestheda Softworks The newly rebooted sci fi game has gotten quite a lot of praise from major reviewing critics but there are a couple of exceptions such as IGN and Gamespot that have yet to comment on Prey s story and combat mechanics and how they proved to the expectations and hype that the trailers and teasers created There is a lack of the fear factor since the only scary parts aren t really fear inspired designs but rather static objects that cause no tense feeling whatsoever A lot of the game s objectives are mainly opening doors and less combat making that part of the Overall this game has got a mix of both pros and cons but in the end the experience that Prey gives to it s players is of course a positive meaning that this isn t a game you ll forget so easily Rating 7 10 Ar cle by Kevin Barreto 17 03

Fun Times AWKWARD MOMENTS 13 Cool Facts that you should know 1 Cringingly Hilarious teenage moments shared for the first time that will put a smile on your face Napoleon Bonaparte was not short He was actually taller than the average man of his time In Fact he was 7 cm taller than the great Admiral Nelson standing at 1 69m tall Jasmine Dubery 16 Although I have had many my most embarrassing moment was definitely the time that I was walking home from school Tired and exhausted my school bag weighing me down I was reading the 20 minute walk home that was until I saw what I thought was my best friends car drive past Convinced I knew the driver and really not wanting to walk home I began running waving my arms frantically in the air and screaming for them to stop completely unaware that I was chasing after the wrong car It was one of the most embarrassing moments of my life and the weird looks I received afterwards only heightened the awkwardness 2 3 4 Celery has negative calories It takes more calories to eat a piece of celery than the celery has in it to begin with It s the same with apples Kevin Barreto 17 When I was 15 me and my family went on holiday to Disneyland in Paris Despite the loud screaming kids and long queues for all the rides I was enjoying myself that was until I got strapped into one particular ride that I just happened to black out on I was thrown about flipped upside down smacked against the seat until I eventually had to be dragged off the ride my face bruised and beaten with a bunch of strangers staring at me It was the single most embarrassing moment of my life 95 of people text things they could never say in person You cannot snore and dream at the same time 5 A single cloud can weight more than 1 million pounds 6 7 8 9 Chewing gum while you cut an onion will help keep you from crying If you believe that you re truly one in a million there are still approximately 7 498 more people out there just like you Ben Wheatley 16 My most embarrassing moment happened whilst I was working I was cleaning the side of a pool next to some steps which led down into a swimming pool when I slipped and proceeded to slip down the stairs like they were a waterslide fully clothed surrounded by my work colleagues who just laughed Drenched cold and embarrassed I let out deep sigh too embarrassed to say a word pulled myself out of the pool and continued like nothing had happened what a day In 1386 a pig in France was executed by public hanging for the murder of a child The word gorilla is derived from a Greek word meaning A tribe of hairy women 10 Pirates wore earrings because believed it improved their eyesight 11 Domantas Stankevicius 17 Although I don t remember this story much just thinking back to it makes me feels embarrassed When I was 4 I was in the garden when I came across a worm I m not to sure what was going through my head as I picked it up and placed it in my mouth however I remember thinking it was a sour gummy worm It certainly did not taste like one 12 13 they The elephant is the only mammal that can t jump Earth is the only planet that is not named after a god You are born with 300 bones but by the time you are an adult you only have 206 EVA SALON Jack Goodswen 16 Me being me I never pay any attention to my surroundings and it just so happened that one day I was walking into college looking at my phone Not realising that the door in front of my was automatic I kept my eyes down until I got smacked on the head by the door swinging open Embarrassed I looked up to see if anyone had noticed and there stood a woman trying not to burst out in fits of laughter I felt embarrassed for the rest of the day BEAUTY HAIR Ar cle by Jasmine Dubery 16 6 7 DORANS CORNER EARLS STREET IP24 2AD TEL 01842 337410 MOB 07454371947 05

TECH IPHONE 7 RED As IPhone 7 RED is only visually new the specs of the phone stay the same The operating system is iOS 10 the battery lasts up to 14 hours talk time has a 4 7 inches display storage is available in 32GB 128GB and 256GB however in my opinion the 12 Megapixel camera is the main attraction that people enjoy What is the Iphone 7 Why red S o here I am using my apple Iphone 7 and one of my friends comes up to me and asks me have I heard about the new Iphone 7 RED To my surprise I have never heard about Iphone 7 RED In this article I am going to talk about the new apple Iphone 7 RED So when I first looked at this new Iphone RED the first thought that came into my mind was that apple actually became an Apple meaning that the phone is an actual apple colour which is red However it turns out that it s not for laughs and giggles The main reason why Apple have made the Iphone 7 available in red is due to their partnership with RED which supports HIV AIDS programs that provide counseling testing and medicine that prevents the transmission of HIV from a mother to her unborn child So far Apple has raised over 130 million in dollars through the sale of RED products Every purchase of the Iphone 7 RED brings us a step closer to an AIDS free generation because the money spent on the phone contributes directly to the global fund to fight AIDS It has amazing quality overall With its ability to zoom in really far and still keep the same quality as the photo which is not zoomed it is really amazing for a phone camera In conclusion the new IPhone 7 RED is only new in colour this edition helps with funding support against HIV AIDS by sending the money the buyer spends on the phone to funds for fighting HIV AIDS and preventing them Ar cle by Domantas Stankevi ious 17 ADVERTISE HERE If you are reading this so are your potential customers Contact us for more details 06

EVENTS TO BE INSPIRED IS GREAT TO INSPIRE IS AN HONOUR I nspire focus is a project that works with young people and helps them to achieve their potential and pursue their careers Inspire Focus was created as a project of SIMPLE Norfolk a charitable community voluntary organisation and activities are supervised by Joe and Carla Barreto Early in the year the project was created and on the 27th of February 2017 with the help of the Mayor of Thetford Mr Terry Jermy and the Ambassador of Portugal in the U K Mr Manuel Lobo Antunes the premises were inaugurated for the purpose The Youth Gossip magazine Inspire Focus started because they felt like helping the society improve and it all starts with the young which are the future pillars of society What Joe and Carla are doing is definitely making a change in these young volunteers lives Our main goal is to make sure every individual that comes to us achieves their goals in life so they can be happy and enjoying every day of their career We believe that everyone has a big potential within them and all that we do is help them to find it and share it with the world By helping these young people with professionals within their chosen careers those professionals become their mentors and give them a bit of experience of how a certain career works Joe Barreto is part of that project but instead of being managed by its members the work was distributed throughout the young volunteers so each one of them would learn how to run and work in a business Soon Inspire Focus volunteers will develop various projects that will benefit every single person that decides to join us Over 100 organisations and companies have already decided to help us to carry out our project forward so we can help more people to find their vocation and to pursue their careers Ar cle by Jair Ribeiro 13

Sexting a risky game Sending sexual messages or sexually explicit pictures of yourself to someone you know might seem fun and harmless but what happens if those images are seen by others Sexting is when people send sexual messages sometimes together with photos or videos also known as nude or semi nude selfies by text an app or online So sending a sext might feel like only a small step especially if it s to someone you re flirting with or who you fancy What can go wrong with sexting Once you hit send the message or picture is out of your hands It could be seen by anyone including your friends family or total strangers If you send or upload a picture and then regret doing it there s no guarantee you can get it removed Even if it can be deleted it could already have been copied Similarly if you send a picture or video to someone but then ask them to delete it they might not want to may not know how to or might already have shared it with other people or saved it elsewhere People might send sext messages to boyfriends girlfriends someone they fancy someone they ve met online or a friend for a laugh Some young people feel under pressure to swap personal pictures and messages because they think everyone else is doing it And sometimes sexting can be harmful Sexting images is illegal for under 18s Sending or even possessing sexual images or videos of anyone under the age of 18 are illegal even if the participants agreed to it Sexts shared with other people or uploaded on to websites without your permission is a form of cyberbullying Why do people try sexting It can lead to threats being made for example your family will be shown the pictures if you do not send more images This is sometimes known as sextortion if becomes extreme Some people might like the idea of sexting rather than talking face to face Some find it easier to say how they really feel really like or really want by text For many talking online is a part of everyday life as is sharing photos through social media 17 Ar cle by Ana Margarida 15

INTERVIEWS O Q n This first issue of our magazine I had the pleasure to interview a person who I admire His deeds humbleness and overall great personality are an example to the community Terry Jermy was the mayor of Thetford for the past year and as the youngest mayor of Thetford it was an obvious decision of who we wanted to interview for this issue What kind of people do you like to work with A I m naturally quite inquisitive so I often like to find out how things work why things work so I like people who ask a lot of questions and don t just accept the status quo so that people know why we do this and why we do it this way so I quite like working with people like that and people that are quite hard working and quite passionate Q What kind of people do you find it most difficult to work with A Anybody that gives me a reply which is well we ve always done it that way well why why do we do it that way and I find some people very stuck in the mud if you like but you know it s always been done that way so it must right and not prepared to try new things Q What were some of the things you felt you could improve on Photos by Kacper Dawidowicz Q How did you get involved into politics and inspired you to it A Okay so I first really got involved when I was 12 and I was born on the Barnham Cross Estate I was born on Ash Close My Mum and Dad lived there they moved in when they were 16 so I grew up there from a young age and I was 12 all of my friends and I used to hangout on the streets and there wasn t really a lot to do and we didn t really have the pine close play area wasn t even there then so there wasn t really anything other than sitting on a bench and so I wrote a letter to the paper The Thetford And Brandon Times and I said it s really rubbish living in Thetford for young people there was nothing to do I didn t like it so I wrote back to them and they said come to a council meeting so I went along when I was 12 and started getting involved in politics at the time the law was that you had to be 21 or over to be councillor but it s 18 now the law s changed over the last few years So I used to just sit in the audience at council meetings and watch what they were doing and I just kept going Then when I was 21 I stood for my first election and lost quite a lot but then when I was 22 I stood again for a different area and I won by 45 votes Out of 4000 people and I got 45 more votes than the other candidate so I won but that s really why I started I was a young person and there wasn t really a lot to do and I wanted I didn t think the council really understood about young people So yeah I kept going to the meetings I was always particularly keen as a councillor to engage more with the public so often a lot of councillors you can get elected and then you don t see them again for another 4 years until the next elections comes round I think it s really important for a councillor to be visible people know who your councillor is you go to residence meeting ng so this evening the reason I m late is because I ve been to The Redcastle Residence Association they meet every month on the last Monday of the month at 7 00 o clock we had about 15 residents tonight and we sit and answer questions and yeah that s what being a councillor s about and I also think it s really important to use technology so I use Facebook a lot I use twitter a lot I produce newsletters paper copies a lot which I hand in to the area I represent to make sure we have that communication with the people you represent Q What are your political views about the current political and financial state of the country A Hmm okay crikey political and financial okay political I think an awful lot of people are very apathetic about politics they don t see how it relates to them all politics affect people whether it s your local council or the government politics affects every single thing we do in life police whether it s schools or the fire service or the service or the national health service even your bins being empty the streetlights that are on when you walk home or the road that you drive on politics is about service for me and I always think it s a big shame when more people don t get involved with politics At a local election probably about 25 of the people eligible to vote actually go to vote that s 75 not voting and I think that s incredibly sad basically because the vast majority of those people would have an opinion on politics if they realised it or not so that s very sad 14 Continues on the next page

INTERVIEWS casework side and the problem solving and when somebody comes back to you a few weeks later and says you helped me out and actually that solved a problem Hmm probably my biggest success over the last year is that can be quite rewarding probably or will be the biggest success I ll ever get as a What are his aspirations for the future as a councillor which is the building we re in today this room Q used to be my IT room I didn t know a lot but yes I used to politician And Why sit against that wall over there facing up because this used I never really had any aspirations to be honest with A to be my school I went here for 6 years 4 years at high you when I first did I was quite happy just to be a town school and 2 years at six form college and the fact that councillor and then when the opportunity came along I we ve been able to save Charles Burrell and turn it into stood for Breckland and then again when the opportunity something really positive and to keep it going because I came I stood for Norfolk County Council and then I kind of must confess when we started I wasn t convinced that we ended up being elected to all 3 councils I never really would make it work I thought we would and we ve intended to be elected but it just sort of happened over managed to keep it going and make a profit not just for the time and then when the opportunity came to be Mayor I first year but for the second year we ve made more money became Mayor as well so there isn t really anything next for that we can invest back in me other than to become an MP and that certainly isn t an The Mayor That took an awful lot of hard work and an ambition of mine to become an MP so who knows what the awful lot of vision really to you know it hadn t been done future holds before and now we ve got somebody renting the old What would you like people to know about swimming pool and somebody s moving in to the old boys Q toilets you know that s thinking outside the box and I m you very pleased with my role in making that happen I think probably it d be good for people to know that Q What have been your biggest success over the past year And Why Q What haven t you been able to achieve And why A I think all politics can be a little bit frustrating I find an awful lot of councillors still don t think creatively a lot a lot of councils don t think creatively and they re naturally very slow at making decisions and so everything takes 2 3 4 times as long for the council to act upon than I would like I think it s part of the age thing as a younger councillor I can get quite impatient and I want things to happen as soon as they possibly can and that doesn t always happen I m much better now than I was 10 years ago when I first became a councillor but yeah I think that the innovative thinking of councils generally is not where I would like it to be which can be frustrating Q Councillors The Mayor Politicians are just normal ordinary people so I still do my shopping at Sainsbury s and I still go to the pub with my friends occasionally and go to the cinema and that sort of thing and because councillors aren t a separate group of people actually councillors are representatives from the community and I think it d be good for people to understand that more What gives you the greatest sa sfac on A I think probably one of the best things about being a councillor is the casework you get to deal with so when an individual member of the public contacts you with a particular problem and it could be anything it could be absolutely anything so there was a lady I was speaking to Okay well thank you for being here today so that today she s 84 she s agoraphobic which means she Q doesn t like to leave her house basically she s on her own we could interview you and on behalf of all young people could you dab for us The Mayor What can I do for her And I was able to talk to Yeah I think so I don t think I m trendy enough but I her today about some activities that she might like to A attend specifically for older people and so your problem shall give it a go solving and as a councillor I quite like to join up the dots between we ve got a problem over here what s the solution Article by Kevin Barreto 17 and what do we need to join them together and I think the Kacper Dawidowicz 17 casework side of it can be frustrating because you can t Jack Goodswen 16 help everybody and you can t give everyone what they Marcos Barreto 13 want somebody would like a new 3 bedroom house tomorrow please well it doesn t quite work like that but the 15

Films CULTURE computerised minds Major begins to wonder what she would be like if she had human traits and once she finally finds the hacker her curiosity takes over The sci fi sequel directed by Rupert Sanders lived up to the standards originally set by the 1995 animated film as the graphics were overall great capturing the futuristic Japanese era feel and displaying them on screen Culture played a great role throughout the 2 hours in both the moral and background setting The moral setting was greatly affected by the eastern culture for example the idea that knowing your past identity was more important than putting away one of your own in prison The background setting can be easily seen most of the film when Major and or Batou are walking through the streets and you see shop owners with metal masks and massive holograms in front of buildings and skyscrapers usually containing some type of publicity or culture related moving image Ghost In The Shell is referencing to the fact that the brain is the only natural human part of the body that is kept by protagonist in a synthetic body also known as the shell This was clever use of words for the title as it represents the spirit with a not so human body which is exactly the case Overall Ghost In The Shell has both a fantastic balance of story and visuals since the combat and camouflaging CGI scenes were executed brilliantly definitely a good sequel and a film worth watching Based on a Japanese Manga Ghost In The Shell depicts Major played by Scarlett Johansson a female cyber enhanced soldier with a forgotten past working to stop criminals in the future Japanese city After tracking down a terrorist by the name of Rating 7 10 The Puppet Master that controls the identity of people and uses them to illegally hack into people s 18 Ar cle by Kacper Dawidowicz 17
