A Message From YBMKQ President & CEOEight years ago, a vision was born in the heart of a 14-year-old boy determined to change the world and help young people enduring the same pain and trauma he felt. This vision, born from grief and pain, has since grown into a beacon of hope, uplifting countless young lives in our community. I believed in the vision of Young Black Motivated Kings and Queens despite doubts because I knew God had designed me for this purpose. He used my pain to transform others. On behalf of the Young Black Motivated Kings and Queens Board of Directors and Staff, I express our profound gratitude for your unwavering support over these past eight years. Your generosity has enabled us to impact and serve young people and families throughout Allegheny County.Following the heartbreaking loss of De’Avry Amir Thomas on May 29, 2022, I questioned if we could continue. Yet, two years later, with the community's support, we have established a state-of-the-art facility serving young people from 12 months to high school age. This center offers STEAM education, OST programming, childcare, a community library, therapy rooms, tutoring, audio-recording rooms, recreational activities, culinary skills training, and more. Through unity, collaboration, and a shared vision, we can provide our youth with the tools and support they need to thrive. As we gather, we invite you to engage, connect, and embrace the vibrant spirit of this event and the spaces curated by our team. Thank you for your incredible support. Together, we can create a brighter future for young people everywhere.Kahlil G.Darden Jr.Kahlil G. Darden Jr. CEO & President of YBMKQ
