AR READING Prayer Corner AR SUPER INCREDIBLE READING JOURNEY These Students have reached their goal 5th grade student Kylee Crook 6th grade students Taylor Clark and Landon Johnson FANT STICO FANTASTIC HOMECOMING PICTURES 2019 Prayer Corner Trading a surrogate faith for your own Do you ever question if God exists When we examine God we are exploring the version of God All of us probably know someone who has given up on the church or God based on events that didn t go according to their desires or prayers Who handed you your version of God How do you know what you know about God Some people shape and carry our faith similar to a surrogate until we own it for ourselves When God view comes from somewhere else it is a surrogate faith Most goes something like this First trimester birth 12 years of age Parent shape the faith Second trimester 13 18 Pastor shape the faith Third trimester 18 21 Professor shape the faith Remaining years 21 older You develop your own Unless you have developed your view of God you have a surrogate faith You are borrowing your faith based on what someone else believes Secondhand knowledge becomes second hand What happens when the people who gave it to you fail When people become disillusioned when someone else fails they never owned their faith It s cheaper to borrow stuff and it s safer to adopt someone else s faith When you hold your belief it may not start off looking like what was handed to you but it s yours It may be rough around the edges you won t know all the right things to say but it s yours You owe it to yourself to figure out what this God thing is about for yourself Hear and feel what God s feels like by studying Him in His word Please join us next week in extended day at 8 30 There is a prayer box in the office for prayer request Thank You Mrs Veronica Boyd Calvary Academy is a private Christian school with the mission of challenging its students to know Christ as Lord teaching them to know and apply biblical truth and training them to pursue academic excellence in order that they may engage and transform their world for Jesus Christ
