As a BIM Manager I feel sometimes projects are overcomplicated when it comes to BIM MEP coordination and the original intent and goals are lost. XL’s BIM team does NOT fall into this category. They are no nonsense, but provide a fair and streamlined approach to this process, which is a breath of fresh air. I am always very pleased when I hear we are teaming up again on another project. Community EngagementEngaging local and underutilized businesses is a small step with a significantimpact, yielding economic, social and environmental benefits for both the projectand the local community. Our active engagement with local businesses will maximize this opportunity.A Diversity of Experiences and BackgroundsSupporting our local community is central to our core purpose to “build to improve lives.” Whenever possible, we seek to provide contract opportunities to Underutilized Business Enterprise (UBE) firms, local and small businesses. In the construction industry, these businesses have often been unsuccessful in obtaining a fair proportion of contracts for which they are eligible. It is our goal to increase participation and partnerships with UBE firms to provide those opportunities and bring more value to every job.Local Partner DevelopmentWe maintain a database of over 2,500 subcontractors, nearly 350 of which are UBEs, and continually generate additional interest with local vendors by conducting outreach events and providing training programs and clinics on topics such as Certified Payroll Reports, Skilled Labor Force reporting, LEED certification, material sourcing, and project documentation.41%San Mateo Behavioral Health50%Elk Grove & G Street Behavioral Health53%Howe Avenue Behavioral HealthXL Diversity Results for Recent Kaiser Permanente ProjectsXL is contractually committed to achieving 25% diversity among trade partners on recent projects with Kaiser. Sacred Heart SchoolsTimberQuest Classroom BuildingIn partnership with Aedis Architects and Daedalus Structural Engineering, XL delivered our first TimberQuest mass timber project for Sacred Heart Schools. TimberQuest is a cost and schedule ecient, prefabricated, DSA pre-checked solution that provides 21st-century learning environments within a high-quality, healthy and sustainable mass timber facility. The project is approximately 4,000 s.f., containing four 1,000 s.f. classrooms, each with a restroom. This project was built out with a quick turn around of 11 weeks during the summer of 2021, with classrooms ready for students to return to school in the fall.ATHERTON, CADESIGNBUILDValue$2,600,000Size4,000 s.f.ArchitectAedis Architecture

The two-story multi-use building holds the career and counseling centers, a dance studio, maker spaces, fine arts studios, broadcast rooms, music facilities, a photography dark room, a teaching kitchen, classrooms and administration spaces. Maximizing daylight was key; even portions of the building's 30,000 s.f. below-ground floor are lit by opaque skylight pavers. XL's tight controls on timing, noise and safety minimized disruptions to the school and its community. The fast-tracked project included demolition and sitework, and was safely completed while the campus was occupied. The preschool includes high ceilings, natural light, and exposed structural beams. In the Design Lab, where students experiment with technology, sliding doors transform the space from one large room to two separate classrooms. The Sellman Pavilion, which serves as a gymnasium and theater for kindergarten to eighth-grade students, is Zero Net Energy, producing as much energy with roof top solar panels as it consumes.LEASELEASEBACKValue$6,000,000Size43,500 s.f.ArchitectWRNS Studio
