REMEMBERING MISS ANN SISTER BERT AUNT ABERTA A LIFE OF STYLE CLASS EXCELLENCE BEAUTY AND ELEGANCE She has been an inspiration source of pride and joy to the family and all who knew her Apostle Emerson says all the girls in the family whether they were nieces cousin or etc they were abundantly blessed by Aunt Aberta s labor of love especially his daughter Karen and granddaughter Ashley On July 15 1922 God sent a lovely angel to the earth in the person of Alberta Williams She was the second of five children born to Reverend Henry and Estella Williams Miss S deceased Born and raised in Monroe Louisiana where she attended the New Baptist Church School In August 1934 she accepted the Lord Jesus as her personal Savior and was water baptized Karen remembers so many things about Aunt Aberta some of the things that really stands out Aunt Aberta taught her how to ride the AC Transit bus which they called Aunt Clara She would take her to FEED THE DUCKS She taught her how to make Barbeque Baked Beans The Lemon Ice Box Pie with Graham Cracker Curst She says Aunt Aberta has showered me with gifts all of my life In the late forties she often traveled from Monroe to San Francisco where she vacationed visiting her uncle Alonzo and Aunt Willie Mae In 1950 she moved to Seattle Washington where her baby sister Annette and baby brother Bobby lived Ashely speaks about how elegant Aunt Aberta was and woman of good taste She taught Ashley How to Set The Table for TEA TIME She would also take her out for birthday dinner at the Hungry Hunter Miss Ann took her and brother for their first Paddle Boat Ride on Lake Merritt took her for First Shopping Trip to Emporium Capwell s taught her how to cook bacon in the oven and together they played and experienced the big bang out of the Frog Game In 1954 she and her brother Bobby moved to San Francisco California united with the Star Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend George H Henderson She met and was married 40 years to Richard Henderson deceased In 1964 Sis Williams joined the Downs Memorial United Methodist Church in Oakland California where she served as Senior Usher In the year of 2000 she joined her brother s church Apostle Alonzo Emerson of the Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church She was employed and worked for the University Of California Hospital San Francisco for 25 years Altho Miss Ann was born during the roaring twenties and a working young woman in the fearful forties and only agricultural was the way of the south to earn a living she was never a FARM WORKER she chose to do the domestic type of work and as a result she lived very different from her siblings Her older brother Bud gave her the name MISS ANN She acquired a non black approach She was certainly beautiful classy and elegant Her family always referred to her style of cooking and eating as not the southern or soul food type She preferred the Salmon Fish Asparagus Broccoli and etc Miss Ann never had a biological child She was ten years older than her baby brother Bobby and always claimed him as her child from a small girl Their mother Miss S would say that s my baby and she would say that s my baby too When other members of the Church would hold Bobby she would sit at the end of the pew and hold his little feet Miss Ann would take his spankings growing up as a child She worked to make sure he would finish high school Because of her love for the family Miss Ann was instrumental in her young cousin Ethel attending and completing Poly Tech High School in San Francisco She had the privilege and enjoyed traveling to Germany to visit Ethel and family while in the Military Another highlight of her travels was her 80th birthday boat cruise to the Catalina Island with family and friends Mrs Alberta Henderson reminds us of Lydia the Woman Bible Character that was always generous hospitable loved doing and blessing the people of God and also those who were less fortunate Only heaven knows how much money she has given to families that was in need hungry naked out of doors and even shared with the Zion young adults attending college and trying to get their high school education She was a blessing to her brother Apostle Emerson when he moved the church location to Oakland She placed new curtains and beautiful drapes in the downstairs area upstairs vestibule and ladies restroom Miss Ann Sister Bert Aunt Aberta truly lived a life of Style Class Excellence Elegance and Beauty even way up in her nineties She took good care of her self in the Golden Years She was a Breast Cancer Survivor for 38 years As a woman of excellence who was very organized with her eating utensils drawers she was a photographer had picture albums galore and looked and dressed like a celebrity A few years ago when her health started diminishing Jonathan her great nephew was chosen to go and stay with her They became closely bonded He became her Primary Care Giver It was incredible how well and how he did such an excellent job taking care of Aunt Aberta She would light up when Jonathan came into the room where she lived with Karen Aunt Aberta was not only his great Aunt she was the grandmother that he never had She leaves a great legacy of Sharing Caring and lots of love to her family for 97 years The family members that are in California Georgia Louisiana Oregon Texas and Washington will remember REMEMBERING MISS ANN SISTER BERT AUNT ABERTA A LIFE OF STYLE CLASS EXCELLENCE BEAUTY AND ELEGANCE She has been an inspiration source of pride and joy to the family and all who knew her Apostle Emerson says all the girls in the family whether they were nieces cousin or etc they were abundantly blessed by Aunt Aberta s labor of love especially his daughter Karen and granddaughter Ashley On July 15 1922 God sent a lovely angel to the earth in the person of Alberta Williams She was the second of five children born to Reverend Henry and Estella Williams Miss S deceased Born and raised in Monroe Louisiana where she attended the New Baptist Church School In August 1934 she accepted the Lord Jesus as her personal Savior and was water baptized Karen remembers so many things about Aunt Aberta some of the things that really stands out Aunt Aberta taught her how to ride the AC Transit bus which they called Aunt Clara She would take her to FEED THE DUCKS She taught her how to make Barbeque Baked Beans The Lemon Ice Box Pie with Graham Cracker Curst She says Aunt Aberta has showered me with gifts all of my life In the late forties she often traveled from Monroe to San Francisco where she vacationed visiting her uncle Alonzo and Aunt Willie Mae In 1950 she moved to Seattle Washington where her baby sister Annette and baby brother Bobby lived Ashely speaks about how elegant Aunt Aberta was and woman of good taste She taught Ashley How to Set The Table for TEA TIME She would also take her out for birthday dinner at the Hungry Hunter Miss Ann took her and brother for their first Paddle Boat Ride on Lake Merritt took her for First Shopping Trip to Emporium Capwell s taught her how to cook bacon in the oven and together they played and experienced the big bang out of the Frog Game In 1954 she and her brother Bobby moved to San Francisco California united with the Star Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend George H Henderson She met and was married 40 years to Richard Henderson deceased In 1964 Sis Williams joined the Downs Memorial United Methodist Church in Oakland California where she served as Senior Usher In the year of 2000 she joined her brother s church Apostle Alonzo Emerson of the Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church She was employed and worked for the University Of California Hospital San Francisco for 25 years Altho Miss Ann was born during the roaring twenties and a working young woman in the fearful forties and only agricultural was the way of the south to earn a living she was never a FARM WORKER she chose to do the domestic type of work and as a result she lived very different from her siblings Her older brother Bud gave her the name MISS ANN She acquired a non black approach She was certainly beautiful classy and elegant Her family always referred to her style of cooking and eating as not the southern or soul food type She preferred the Salmon Fish Asparagus Broccoli and etc Miss Ann never had a biological child She was ten years older than her baby brother Bobby and always claimed him as her child from a small girl Their mother Miss S would say that s my baby and she would say that s my baby too When other members of the Church would hold Bobby she would sit at the end of the pew and hold his little feet Miss Ann would take his spankings growing up as a child She worked to make sure he would finish high school Because of her love for the family Miss Ann was instrumental in her young cousin Ethel attending and completing Poly Tech High School in San Francisco She had the privilege and enjoyed traveling to Germany to visit Ethel and family while in the Military Another highlight of her travels was her 80th birthday boat cruise to the Catalina Island with family and friends Mrs Alberta Henderson reminds us of Lydia the Woman Bible Character that was always generous hospitable loved doing and blessing the people of God and also those who were less fortunate Only heaven knows how much money she has given to families that was in need hungry naked out of doors and even shared with the Zion young adults attending college and trying to get their high school education She was a blessing to her brother Apostle Emerson when he moved the church location to Oakland She placed new curtains and beautiful drapes in the downstairs area upstairs vestibule and ladies restroom Miss Ann Sister Bert Aunt Aberta truly lived a life of Style Class Excellence Elegance and Beauty even way up in her nineties She took good care of her self in the Golden Years She was a Breast Cancer Survivor for 38 years As a woman of excellence who was very organized with her eating utensils drawers she was a photographer had picture albums galore and looked and dressed like a celebrity A few years ago when her health started diminishing Jonathan her great nephew was chosen to go and stay with her They became closely bonded He became her Primary Care Giver It was incredible how well and how he did such an excellent job taking care of Aunt Aberta She would light up when Jonathan came into the room where she lived with Karen Aunt Aberta was not only his great Aunt she was the grandmother that he never had She leaves a great legacy of Sharing Caring and lots of love to her family for 97 years The family members that are in California Georgia Louisiana Oregon Texas and Washington will remember that she may be gone but Not Forgotten
