The campus is 780kilometers south of Bangkok, a 2.5-hour drive from the beach resorts ofSamui Island, Surat Thani and Krabi, and the busy commercial center andthe international airport of Hat Yai. WUIC offers non-degree classes in BusinessAdministration to visiting international students.Students may visit for one semester, one year, onesummer session, or for a specially arranged shortmodule. The non-degree programs include: Student Handbook for Exchange Student Walailak University International College (WUIC) 5Admission InformationBachelor of Business Administrationdegree program offers credit coursesto exchange and visiting students. Visiting students usually attendregularly scheduled classes with Thaistudents and other internationalstudents who are enrolled in the degreeprogram. ApplicantEligibilityBe enrolled at their home institution in a degreeprogram at the time of application and for theduration of their studies at WUIC.Have successfully completed at least one year ofdegree studies at their home university.Have good English proficiency (under the visitingprogram’s discretion, see Required Documentssection).Be in good health, physically and mentally, with thecapacity to live and study abroad. Demonstrate a strong interest in living in Thailandand be ready to accept Thailand's culture, whichmay differ from their home environment.Have sufficient financial resources to cover all oftheir personal costs of living for the duration oftheir studies at WUIC, including transportation,visa fees, accommodations, medical and healthinsurance, food, and any other fees or personalliving expenses.Students must: Student Handbook for Exchange Student Walailak University International College (WUIC) 7

ApplicantEligibilityMany of our visiting students are affiliated with oneof Walailak University (WU)'s partner institutions, inwhich case the terms of the visit are defined by thegoverning Partnership Agreement, usually in theform of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)or Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).Students coming from a partner institution mustfirst be nominated by their home university.Contact your university's Study Abroad orInternational Affairs Office for applicationinformation and details.Often, the Partnership Agreement is based on aprinciple of a reciprocal exchange of students andtuition is waived (however, personal expenses andaccommodation expense remain the obligation ofthe student). Dorm RulesBehavior while in living in the WU dormitory1. No smoking in the dormitory.2. Do not install, add, or change equipment ordurable goods in the dormitory.3. Do not conduct business in the room or dormitoryarea without permission.4. Pets are not allowed in the dormitory or dormitoryarea without permission5. Do not have or use electrical appliances that theuniversity has prohibited in the dormitory.6. Do not bring public equipment to be used as one'sown or in one's room without permission.7. Do not gamble or engage in gambling in thedormitory or university area8. Do not consume alcohol or other drugs in thedormitory, dormitory area or university. Dorm RulesBehavior while in living in the WU dormitory9. Prohibited possession of prohibited, illegal, orlethal weapons.10. Do not steal or destroy other people's property.11. Do not use keys or other objects that can be usedinstead of keys to enter other people's rooms.12. It is strictly forbidden to bring outsiders into thedormitory without permission.13. Do not give false information to staff or staff ofthe university.14. Do not destroy university property.15. Do not cause quarrels or participate in quarrels.16. Do not physically harm other people and violatethe rights of life and body.17. Do not make noise to disturb others in thedormitory.18. Pay the dormitory fee by the 15th of every month,including the actual use of electricity. Otherwise, thedormitory department, the property managementcenter will lock CES system. Issuing the Letter of Acceptance (LOA) withCertification to Facilitate the Applicant'sEducation Visa Application ProcessWUIC will issue you an official Letter of Acceptance(LOA) and a Visa Facilitation Letter addressed tothe Thai Embassy/Consulate where you will applyfor the Thai Education Visa (ED Visa). Issuing the Letter of Acceptance (LOA) withCertification to Facilitate the Applicant'sEducation Visa Application ProcessAfter you have been granted admission, eachApplicant will need to request a Thai Non -Immigrant ED Visa (ED Visa) from a ThaiEmbassy/Consulate in your home country orplace of residence.The Thai Embassy/Consulate will require you tosubmit the LOA and the Visa Facilitation Letterissued by WUIC or WU.WUIC will provide only an electronic version ofthe LOA and Visa Facilitation Letter via email.Some Thai Embassies/Consulates will accept thescanned versions, but most require originals.The Program Coordinator at WUIC will send anofficial original LOA and Visa Facilitation Letterto you by international mail – but only if it isrequired by the Thai Embassy/Consulate youhave indicated. Completing the Non-Immigrant ED VisaProcess Before Entering Thailand After receiving the official Letter of AdmissionLetter of Acceptance (LOA) from WU, you shouldapply at the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate inyour country (or place of residence) for a Non-Immigrant ED Visa (ED Visa) in order to enterThailand. You are not permitted to pursue studies at WUif you only possess a Tourist Visa, or any othertype of visa. Visa Validity Student Handbook for Exchange Student Walailak University International College (WUIC) 24The semester term at WU is usually 4 or 5 months, soif you are issued a 90-day ED Visa initially, you willneed to request a Visa Extension from theImmigration Bureau located in Nakhon SiThammarat. The WU Center for International Affairscan help you with that process.Most ED Visas are issues as a Single-Entry Visa. Thismeans you may only enter Thailand one time underthat visa. Thus, if you wish to depart and re-enterThailand, you must first apply for a Re-entry Permit(Single-Entry or a Multiple-Entry) at the ImmigrationBureau (or at the Immigration Office in Bangkok'sInternational Airport) before you depart. If you leaveThailand without applying for a re-entry permit, youroriginal permission to stay for 90 days will beterminated automatically, and you will need to obtaina new valid ED Visa in order to re-enter and tocomplete your studies at WU.

Health, Medical, and AccidentInsurance Information International students must have health,medical, and accident insurance coveringthem for the duration of their study period. If an international student does not havesufficient health insurance coverage fromtheir home country, the student must buy ahealth and medical insurance plan. You should seek coverage from the timeyou depart your home until the time youcomplete your studies at WUIC and departThailand. Exchange undergraduate students are required towear the WU Uniform during class, examinations, and toall official events and university sponsored activities. Activities on Orientation Day Orientation customarily occurs in the weekprior to the first day of classes, according tothe International Programs AcademicCalendar.WU Center for International Affairs (CIA)explains Thailand's Education Visa regulationsand procedures (Visa Extension, 90 DayReporting, etc.).WUIC staff and guest speakers review WUIC'sacademic calendar, forthcoming studentactivities, and introduce students to culturalnorms unique to Thailand.Usually, the Orientation program begins in themorning and is followed by a tour of campuswith stops at important venues (WU mainlibrary, canteens, sports and fitness areas,etc.). An "F" will be given in thefollowing situations:1. Students who fail a major examination orproject.2. Students who are absent on the exam datewithout permission from the Faculty Committee.3. Students who are not allowed to take theexamination because they fail to attend 80percent of the total class time (including lectures,internships and field trips).4. Students who violate the rules regardingexaminations, for example, are late for the exam,dress inappropriately according to studentuniform regulations or engage in cheating.5. Students who receive an “I” grade and fail totake the exam or complete a project in the nexttrimester (except those students who havepermission to take a leave of absence).6. Grading System• An S or U will be given in non-credit or creditcourses in which the instructor decides to have anon-score grading system.• An AU will be given for those courses in whichstudents receive no credit; moreover, studentsmust attend at least 80 percent of the classes.• An I will be given in the following situations: 1. Students who do not take the exam or do nothand in their reports on time due to healthproblems but do submit a medical certificate.However, any final decision will be made by theFaculty Committee. 2. Students who are not allowed to take theexam because they attend less than 80% of theclasses due to health problems and submit amedical certificate. However, any final decisionwill be made by the Faculty Committee. 3. Students who are unable to take the exam orhand in a report due to circumstances beyondtheir control.
