Golf Course Superintendent’sMessage:Matt BohincAs the 2023 Golf Season is comingto a close, I hope that everyoneenjoyed the golf course thisyear. It is hard to believe that it hasalready been a year since myreturn to WestmorelandCountry Club. It is truly a pleasureto be back here after a decadehiatus. It’s as if I never leftand I am very proud to be part ofWestmoreland County Club onceagain! We have made vast improvementsto the golf course this past year.Ranging from thesuccessful completion of theforward tee project, implementingan ongoing tree care programthat will aid in the future health ofdesired trees, playability &improve overall turf health. Wehave greatly improved theemphasis on daily turfconditioning, providing moreconsistentplaying conditions. None of whichwould be possible without the hardwork and dedication ofmy staff, when you see them on thecourse give them a kind word, because they make themagic happen out there!Fall golf is always awesome, but withthat also comes the dreaded mess ofleaves, please bepatient with us as we work through leafclean up. We have a large populationof trees on theproperty and they make a mess thistime of year. My team is out everydayblowing andmulching, but until all the leaves fall itis a continual battle to keep playingsurfaces clean. As we move into this offseason, we willcontinue to address the dead trees thatstill remain onthe course & improve aestheticson outside of the rope areas that havebeen neglected.Again, it is a pleasure for me to be backat Westmoreland, I could not behappier! I am lookingforward to continued improvements tothe golf course and the 2024 season. Ihope everyonehas a safe and happy holiday season!
