WELCOME MESSAGE1The Westside Arts Festival is acommunity based event whichaims to promote and celebratethe spirit and people of Westsidethrough the arts.It aims to bring local peopletogether by showcasing art anda range of educational activitiesin local community spaces.The festival has always had avery strong community focusand this year our central themeis 'Sunbeams and StellarDreams'The festival committee would like to thank all of those Organisations andindividuals who have helped to make this festival possible. FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTSUnleash your inner engineer with workshops designed for those who love ahands-on challenge. Opportunities to collaborate, utilize creative problem-solving or explore the principles of engineering, mechanics and teamworkalong the way. There is a STEM workshop for you! Westside's Newest Community Group, WestsideWomen's Club, are delighted to present anexhibition of work from their recent GRETBfunded smart phone photography course. FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTSWestside Community Organic Garden Open Day is on Saturday 8th July from11.00am to 1.00pm. There's something for everyone this year with Facepainting,a Mud-Kitchen, a Butterfly and Bee Walk 'n Talk, Garden Herbs Talk, SeedSowing and much more! No booking required.Bingo session on 4th July in Westside Library. Lotsof prizes and family fun. This intergenerationalevent brings a crowd, just make sure that childrenare accompanied by an adult! Event is free of charge too.Experience live music on Saturday 8th July withperformances from the John Conneely Trio,Westside Youth Project, Ukrainian choir anddancers and Sonke Multicultural choir. Acts thatappeared at the Irish Youth Music Awards andMusic Generation Livefeed will also beparticipating. CREATIVECULTUREStorytelling and stories abound in this years Festival with several opportunitiesto enjoy them. Join Carmel Uí Cheallaigh for bi-lingual story-times in Irish andEnglish, Órla McGovern will be sharing stories full of magic and mischief withyounger audiences or perhaps drop in to hear Wayne, Alan or Niall. Children are invited to open their mind andimagination to tales of wonder and magic.Artist and Storyteller Wayne O'Connor is aSligo based performer and workshopfacilitator whose work is heavily inspired byMyth, Fantasy and Fairy Tales. Wayne delivers stories in highly energeticshows told with plenty of humour andinteraction. Sessions are on 5th of July inWestside LibraryStorytelling: Myth and Magic with Wayne O'ConnorNiall de Búrca is a scéalaí; a traditionalstoryteller from the west of Ireland. Hugely popular with audiences of all ages,This is a show for the whole family. Grab yourseat and hang on tight, Niall will join you fora feast of fantastical tales that will delighteveryone.
