The Cert VN ECC, is a distance learning course, deliveredentirely online via our e-learning portal Moodle.
We would highly recommend you make full use ofall the resources available to you.They will assist you in completing your assignments aswell as your preparation and revision for the finalassessment.It’s important you understand that a distance learning coursehas its own challenges, so you know what to expect beforeyou get started...
You have access to tutor andCentre support as well as thestudent forums where you canchat and raise questions toother students on the course. But you should consider thatmost of your work andresearch will be carried outindependently. Effective time managementwill be hugely important tocompleting your coursework.Managing yourtime is key
To get full benefit from the course and all theresources available to you, it’s very important that youmanage your time effectively and work to the listedtimescales of the course (9 weeks per unit).You should ensure your research and assignmentwriting is completed in plenty of time. Bear in mindthat it will always take longer than you think.You will require lots and lots of motivation and dedicationto keep going, but it will be worth it in the end!You should anticipate spending at least 5-20hours per week on the course.However, it might be more depending on how you work best.
For this first week, it's important you take a bit of timeto log in, set up your Moodle profile, navigate aroundMoodle and start to acclimatise to the course.What's first?
For this first week, you only have access to the Cert VNECC Introduction & Student Guidelines Course. There’s lots of guidance and information here,including the course conditions and studenthandbook, frequently asked questions and theassignment guidelines. There’s a lot to take in, but it will help you as youprogress through the course if you know what toexpect and what will be expected of you going forward.This course will remain accessible for the entiretyof your Certificate, so you can continue to referback to this as you progress.We would strongly suggest that you take sometime to read through all the available information.
Tutor support is key to yourprogression on the course. Your tutor will mark andprovide feedback on each ofyour assignments. So it’scrucial that you take sometime to review your feedbackfor every unit. You will findlots of helpful pointers andtips as well as queries andcomments on your work. Your tutor is there tosupport you as well as assessyour knowledge and helpprepare you for the finalassessment.
It's preferable that you raise yourquestions on the forum so that allstudents can get benefit of the answer,but you can message your tutor directlyvia Moodle if you prefer.They will have other commitments andtime constraints so may not be able toreply or deal with your queryimmediately. They will get back to you assoon as they can.Please also remember, your tutor does not workexclusively for the Cert VN ECC.You can also raise any questions orqueries that you may have to them.

6. Say hello and introduce yourself on the welcome forum. Try toinclude a little about yourself and why you are doing the course .We will kick off the introductions, and your tutors and otherstudents will join in. Remember it can be hard to maintainmotivation with a distance learningcourse. So keep in mind there areplenty of other people in the sameboat and there will always besomeone there to chat if you need it.
7. You can access the webinars and additional resourcessections straight away. So you can start to review these now ifyou wish.8. You have access to some of the other courses available onMoodle, but not all of them. All the course you are enrolled onwill show up in your profile. If you are asked for an enrolmentkey, then you aren't enrolled and can't access that course.
Course Information: What to expectThere are 6 core units, each unit has 3 outcomes anda corresponding open learning assignment. One unit will be made available to you every 9 weeks. You will be expected to complete each unit andupload the three outcome assignments for markingwithin the listed timescales. It is important that you keep the momentum goingand that you submit all your outcome assignmentsfor marking so you are eligible to sit the Certificatefinal examination. The open learning units should take between 12 – 15months to complete. Final award of the Certificate is dependent onsuccessful completion of all open learning unitcoursework and all three final assessment papers.
You must have commenced the qualification aminimum of 12 months prior to be eligible to sitthe final assessments.All coursework assignments must becompleted and submitted for you to be eligibleto apply. Assessments will be open book anddelivered online.Final assessments: What to expect
Assessment days are scheduled every six monthsin March & September and you are required tocomplete a final assessment application toconfirm your assessment registration.Sample questions, revision materials and supportwill be available prior to the assessment.Revision webinars will also be available topurchase.
