The Beaudry 960 W 7th St Harvey Milk Terminal SFO Terminal 1 Four Seasons Private Residences LOS ANGELES SAN FRANCISCO LOS ANGELES Low Carbon Concrete LEEDv4 Platinum certification for Airports LEED v2009 Silver Certification The 960 W 7th project made some innovative changes to concrete mix designs drastically reducing the embodied carbon footprint Dynamic glazed windows that change with the sun s location to reduce glare and improve comfort Proposed the early engagement of material suppliers and embraced a collaborative relationship with the design team Project team facilitated proactive engagement with bidders on what it could do to support lower carbon goals Self energizing regenerative elevators which recycle energy The project team used imported and higher quality Orca aggregates shipped from the Pacific Northwest This allowed National Concrete to achieve the same compressive strength of their mixes with less overall cement Although Orca is not new to LA market the decision to use Orca aggregates to reduce project s carbon footprint was new and first for LA Go Slow escalators and moving walkways that reduce speed when not in use to save energy Collaboration between the design team contractor and their supply chain ADDITIONAL PROJECT DETAILS The Beaudry is a 57 story residential tower including the parking garage eight levels below grade It s one of the tallest residential high rise structures in Los Angeles increase ventilation throughout the building Roof mounted photovoltaic panels providing renewable power for the facility Radiant heating and cooling to complement displacement ventilation ADDITIONAL PROJECT DETAILS Harvey Milk Terminal 1 at SFO has become the first airport terminal in the world to earn Platinum certification with LEEDv4 LEEDv4 raises the bar for the design construction and operation of high performance structures Terminal 1 includes the 25gate concourse post security concession space and integrated connector to the U S Customs Federal Inspection Area Fly ash and slag concrete mixtures were used to minimize use of natural resources 28 water saving Water Efficient landscaping 14 energy saving in operations Diverted 95 construction waste from landfills 76 floor space is daylit ADDITIONAL PROJECT DETAILS Type I concrete condominium project totaling 378 486 SF 12 Story tower with 58 limited edition residences and a full floor penthouse Webcor self performed concrete carpentry and building specialties This project team also won an innovation point under LEED for Social Equity within the Project Team
