Waterlefe Artists Guild January 2022 ONLINE EXHIBIT presenting artist Kathleen Vyborny
Kathleen Vyborny vybornydesigning@aol.com As with my paper bowls at the 2021 Waterlefe Art Show, paper is the underlying theme of this exhibit. Paper clay, silk paper, and paper collage are combined in various ways to make beads, pendants, bowls, and other objects. Color, when used, comes from paper as well. By design, the bowls are imperfect in a wabi sabi (Japanese philosophy) way. Holes, furrows, roughness, glass shards, wisps of silk, ripped paper — and plain exteriors with color surprises inside —invite touch and examination. Oversized and wildly-decorated beads — “post-pandemic happy beads” — strung on haphazardly-assembled fabric scrap cord, evoke joy for a future, happier time. Please enjoy.
Hope you enjoyed the exhibit! Waterlefe Artists Guild
