As most of you know, the US Court of
Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled that
the COPS Office does have statutory
authority to award immigration related
bonus points to applicants. This
decision reverses a district court
injunction that prevented the COPS
Office from implementing its programs
as designed. Once the Ninth Circuit’s
decision to reverse the injunction has
taken effect, our office is prepared to
launch the COPS Hiring Program (CHP)
and the Community Policing
Development Microgrants Program as
soon as possible.
Once the solicitations are open, we will
send a notice with links to all of the
appropriate materials.Please take this
opportunity to prepare for the upcoming
solicitations by gathering required
information and documentation. Helpful

Share Your Near Miss to
Improve Officer Safety
We encourage law enforcement personnel to share
their near-miss stories and the lessons learned from
them to prevent fellow officers from being injured
or killed. If we can help a brother or sister in blue
make it home at the end of his or her shift, we have
an obligation to act. Help us improve officer safety.
Sharing your story is an anonymous, secure, non-
punitive, and confidential process.
