What is Mamieand Omo?What is Wamama Tujenge?Julienne Lusenge, the Democratic Republic of Congo’s leading women’s rights defender, uses audio interviews to get to the heart of how change happens in the Democratic Republic of Congo. An activist since 1976, Julienne Lusenge is known for challenging leaders of the armed groups in DRC, demanding they stop using violence against women. She is currently:• Board President of the Fund for Congolese Women (FFC) and President of SOFEPADI, a coalition of 40 women’s organizations in the Eastern provinces of the DRC.• Executive Director of the Congolese Women’s Fund and current expert member of the Presidential Panel accompanying President Tshisekedi in the 2021-2022 leadership of the African Union.• Internationally recognized, including the 2021 US State Department’s International Women of Courage Award, 2018 International Human Rights Award, and 2013 French Legion of Honor Award.
