About the CentreThe Centre for Brain and Mind (CBM), supported by the RohiniNilekani Philanthropies, is dedicated to cutting-edge research onbrain disorders. Through advanced clinical investigations, geneticstudies & stem cell research, we aim to uncover the brain'sunderlying changes that make certain individuals more vulnerable tomental illnesses.CBM is a joint venture between the National Institute of MentalHealth and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) & the National Centre forBiological Sciences (NCBS), Who is an unaffected volunteer? Can I participate?If you have no prior history of diagnosis with a severemental illness and none of your immediate blood relativeshave any severe mental illnesses, then YES; you canvolunteer!Will my information stay private?Yes! Any information which may lead to your identificationwill never be shared with anyone outside of our team.Several safeguards are employed across data collectionsites to prevent any breach in confidentiality.Why should I volunteer?By volunteering, you will contribute to anadvanced study that will help usunderstand mental illnesses better. This willhelp scientists & doctors provide moreaccurate diagnoses, find new therapeutictargets and design better treatments; allbecause you chose to help!Will I receive anything for participating?We pay you for your time & travel costsWe offer all scans & tests free of costWe provide breakfast & lunchWe provide accommodation for non-BangaloreresidentsWhat kind of tests will I undergo? Are they safe?All the tests conducted are very safe & pose minimal risk.You will undergo a clinical assessment (doctors will askyou questions), non-invasive scans (MRI, EEG) & bloodsampling (we will withdraw blood equivalent to 1tablespoon).
