Instead many children experience abuse neglect and sexual exploitation leading to physical and emotional pain THESE ARE OUR CASA KIDS Each has experienced the trauma of severe abuse and neglect

WITH HELP FROM DONORS LIKE YOU Casa de Amparo has successfully housed and cared for abused and at risk children and families since 1978 Decades of providing love support and a safe home Decades of easing the transition out of foster care Decades of reuniting families Decades of changing lives YOU CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE OUTCOMES NOW WITH YOUR CHARITABLE SUPPORT TO CASA DE AMPARO WHY DO CASA KIDS NEED YOU Physical injuries may heal but the mental and emotional trauma of child abuse and neglect have consequences that can last a lifetime without your help Children who are abused or neglected are at higher risk of early death due to health problems as adults including alcoholism depression drug abuse eating disorders obesity high risk sexual behaviors smoking suicide chronic diseases But with your help we can prevent these tragic outcomes for our children Over 3 000 children have been removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect and are currently living in foster care in San Diego County Your support can help these children avoid falling victim to the following outcomes which far too often affect local youth currently and formerly in foster care 40 experience homelessness Only 50 will complete high school or receive a GED Less than 3 obtain a bachelor s degree Less than 50 are employed by age 24 By age 17 more than one in four girls in foster care have given birth

The good news is that the lasting effects of child abuse and exploitation are not the end of the story Children can heal and recover with trauma informed care and treatment provided at Casa de Amparo THIS IS WHY YOUR SUPPORT IS CRITICAL Currently there are only two other Community Treatment Facilities in the state of California licensed to care for youth in foster care requiring this level of support This has to change and we have BIG plans Teen Wellness Center Many children in foster care have endured significant trauma including abuse neglect and sexual exploitation Because of this a growing number require a higher level of emotional mental and physical care To meet the needs of these children you will support construction of the Teen Wellness Center which will provide an environment where Casa Kids can receive intensive therapeutic treatment that they so desperately need Comfort rooms provide a designated space where Casa Kids learn to manage responses to the trauma they have experienced through visual auditory and sensory stimulation that they enjoy and select themselves Support Services Center Will provide space to house equipment to maintain the organization s 11 acre campus and fleet of 15 vehicles while securely storing over 400 000 of donated in kind items for our children and families The Center will also operate a centralized laundry facility that can be utilized for job training programming for our youth

The home will be the only one of its kind in San Diego County and will include 16 Private Bedrooms Bathrooms Comfort Rooms Common Area Commercial Kitchen Nurse s Station Staff Offices Backyard Outdoor Space WHERE WE ARE AND WHERE WE RE GOING WITH YOUR HELP NEW TEEN WELLNESS CENTER FUTURE BUILDING N I C THE CASA KIDS CAMPUS Where Healing Begins Since 1978 Casa de Amparo has been recognized as a major force in the fight against child abuse and neglect in San Diego County and beyond serving youth in foster care through three main programs Residential Treatment Services New Directions Transitional Housing and Family Visitation Services Over time our largest program Residential Treatment Services has evolved to give individualized and comprehensive therapeutic care to youth in foster care who have experienced extensive trauma and cannot thrive in a regular foster care setting The campus has been a place of healing and growth for hundreds to call home since 2012 But the care our campus provides is not always enough Unfortunately due to the severe trauma experienced many youth require a higher level or care to help them stabilize during times of severe emotional distress such as aggression suicidal ideation or major depression There are only two other facilities in the entire state of California licensed to provide this care and they are at capacity Our goal is to build a secure Teen Wellness Center so that youth are not forced into psychiatric facilities or juvenile halls WE HAVE BIG PLANS to help even more children and we need you Don t miss the opportunity to change the life of a beautiful growing child Please join us TOTAL CAMPAIGN GOAL 14 MILLION
