Dear Friends of the Cade,I am excited to provide this 2021 Annual Report to you illustrating the roots the Cade has established in our community and the expansion of its programming. With your support, the Cade demonstrated how an inventive mindset could be used to fulfill its mission during uncertain times. This mindset was made evident in the exhibition of inspiring invention stories, in eye opening museum guest experiences, and in protecting our sta and operational strength despite financial challenges. It also allowed us to move through the year with successes derived from re-invented plans and newly imagined partnerships.COVID forced us to look outside of the museum building itself for pathways to fulfill our mission. As a result, the Cade created and exhibited Florida: In a State of Innovation in the Florida House in Washington, DC and partnered with the Institute of Imagination in London on their city-wide initiative, The Big Build. The Cade Prize for Innovation’s presence was expanded into Georgia and Alabama for the second year, Radio Cade grew listenership over 2019, and sta and board members represented the Cade on panels and as featured speakers throughout Florida and in Washington, D.C.Our determination to deliver impactful educational experiences in the museum while maintaining a safe environment for both sta and guests resulted in increased visitation and experiences that delivered the “Aha” moments so crucial for discovery. As guest Uma R. commented, “…one of the key takeaways I learned from the museum; science does not have a single right or wrong answer. It’s an explorative and often unexpected process, and through that process, the world can be viewed from an entirely new perspective.”The Cade’s mission has always been about moving outside of the museum to deliver educational experiences and in 2021 we began exercising this institutional muscle. On any given day one could find Miss Patty, the Cade’s lead outreach educator, and the outreach support team working in East Gainesville with Gainesville Housing Authority or in Southwest Gainesville with the children of SWAG. Inventivity in action resulted in using the Cade’s Mobile Museum to provide field trips for schools in parking lots and other areas of our city. Children and families experiencing poverty should have access to ideas and experiences that inspire, and the Cade is committed to providing that access.I hope you feel a sense of accomplishment as you look through the Cade’s 2021 Annual Report. It is because of your encouragement and support we have been able to make an impact in Gainesville and our surrounding community. Society needs individuals who are resilient, adaptable, and can confidently navigate the unknown. The Cade’s Inventivity™ Educational Framework helps children and adults alike gain new perspectives thereby meeting challenges with a strong sense of personal agency. Our work and your commitment are critical to the future of our children and our community. Thank you for being a part of the Cade Team.Spark wonder. Invent possible,Stephanie C.
