Ladies and Gentleman, good evening! BSS Welcomes you to our annual "Winter Dinner Dance" of2022! Eager to present our Masquerade Ball, I hope you all havea wonderful time tonight! 27 years ago (1995), our Blacktown Sinhala School settled in thesuburbs of St Mary's. In 2016 BSS found a home in the Ponds,currently with up to 100+ students attending. We have now been having our annual "Winter Dinner Dance"for a consecutive number of years, with each time being just assuccessful and joyous as the last. With this tradition stayingstrong not only does your presence help our school, but alsogives our hard working team members a much needed break.If not for them, this night would not be as bright and elegant asit is. Thank you to our team, friends, teachers, parents andsponsors for making this night possible!
Here at Blacktown Sinhala School we value the child for whothey are as a whole, and what qualities and talents make themup and shape them, to be the person they are. Studentsthemselves cherish the community and help one another toreach their highest potential in Sinhala Language Studies, this isdone through social and cultural activities, guided by ourwonderful teachers. Blacktown Sinhala School wasestablished 27 years ago with theobjective of teaching Sri Lankan cultureand Language to the Sri Lankancommunity. It is being managed by theSinhalese Cultural Forum and theSchool management committee. Our SchoolDuring this period, the schoolsuccessfully achieved its objectivesand became one of the premier SriLankan Culture and Languageteaching institutes in Sydney. Theschool celebrated its 25th anniversaryin 2019 with well-wishers from thePresident of NSWFCLS and the paststudents of the school.Blacktown Sinhala School teaches SriLankan Culture and Language fromKindergarten to Year 9. During thisteaching process, a student willexperience all the aspects of Sri Lankanculture and the Sinhala language.
Our SchoolEvidently, we can understand that school helped to achieve multiculturalaspects in Australia by developing good citizens with Sri Lankan cultural values. At the same time, the school leadership programs help enhance the Sri Lankanstudents to build their leadership skills to promote the Sri Lankan values inAustralia and add values and diversity to Australian multi-cultural society.We have achieved many milestones and achievements in the recent past whichare proof of the quality of our education program. Following are some of suchprograms and achievements which were benefited the students and thecommunity:1) Student leadership programs to enhance the students' leadership skills,2) Programs of teaching Sri Lankan culture and history to students,3) Aesthetic programs.
In these programs, the schoolwon competitive awardsregarding highlighting andpresenting Sri Lankan culturalvalues.Remarkably, students of theBlacktown Sinhala School havewon various levels of Minister’sAwards conducted by theNSWFCLS, along with TheMinister’s Award.Our SchoolRegarding the students' leadership, During the COVID-19 crisis, our students'leaders drove a supportive campaign to the Sri Lankan community who neededsupport. It was highly commended in the community.
