44My name is Nana B., I’m in my senior year ofhigh school, and I’m seventeen years old. Inmy free time, I play my flute. Mostly I play itin marching band. I also like to playbasketball or work out if I have the time. Myplan for the future is a little messy right now,but I want to go to college – hopefullyMontclair – for four years. I want to major inbusiness and communications. If I enjoy that,I’d like to maybe be in broadcasting like forthe news or the radio. Maybe even a podcast. So, yeah! That’s my plan. My favorite bookis I’m Glad My Mom Died by JennetteMcCurdy. I read it last year in my Englishclass. She talks about her life and the stressduring filming the show Sam and Cat. Iwrote a lot of annotations for class, but I also did it for myself and I haven’t taken the notes out of the book. My favoritemovie is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. I remember seeing the first one in theaters,so seeing the second one in theaters was so surreal. Seeing how much the movies haveimproved from the first to the second, all of the questions and cliffhangers… Definitelyone of my favorites. Something that I’m really interested in is pottery. I’ve always found itfascinating. It’s something I’d like to pick up in my free time. Also rock climbing. It’sscary, but it looks so fun. I want to be good at it. 44My name is Nana B., I’m in my senior year ofhigh school, and I’m seventeen years old. Inmy free time, I play my flute. Mostly I play itin marching band. The Things They Carried by Tim O’BrienThe Things They Carried (1990) is a historical-fictionnovel about the author Tim O’Brien and his experiencesas a U.S. soldier in the Vietnam War. O’Brien discussesthe tense U.S. environment during the wartime, how hewas drafted into the war, and the emotional/physicaltrauma he had to face. This book is truly amazing andprovides valuable insight into the minds of soldiers, whose wellbeing is commonly overlooked when lookingback at the war. This book is great, and I wouldrecommend it to anyone looking to gain information onthe war or read a truly emotional story. REVIEWED BY ANONYMOUSReviewed by Nived S.A Rebel in Auschwitz by JackFairweatherA Rebel in Auschwitz (2021) is a biographical bookin which the main character, Witold, purposefullygets captured to go to Auschwitz. He wants to dothis to prove that Auschwitz is not just a workcamp, but a concentration camp. I found thisbook very interesting because it is unpredictableand at some point, Witold almost dies. I wouldrecommend this book for people in 6th grade andolder. If you can understand this book, you willfind it very thrilling.55 The Things They Carried by Tim O’BrienThe Things They Carried (1990) is a historical-fictionnovel about the author Tim O’Brien and his experiencesas a U.S. soldier in the Vietnam War. Taylor Swift: The Eras TourTaylor Swift’s Eras Tour has become inescapable. She’s traveling to numerouscountries, there are videos on almost every social media platform, and her songs areconsistently played on the radio. Even though she appears to be everywhere, manyfans haven’t been able to secure tickets to the actual Eras Tour.As someone who has seen both the concert and the movie, I can say that the movie isas close to the concert as you can get. The movie is an amazing combination of music, dance, and excitement. The camera work is amazing, and Swift included almostevery song from the set list on the tour. Her choices for the “surprise song” section of the movie are absolutely phenomenal.Swift opted for the two songs to be “Our Song” and “You’re on Your Own Kid.” “OurSong” was a strong choice because Swift didn’t include any songs from her debutalbum on the actual setlist, so including this song gave fans a small taste of her firstalbum. “You’re on Your Own Kid” is from her album Midnights and is a huge fan-favorite. In fact, the song’s line “so make the friendship bracelets” inspired many fansto trade Swift themed bracelets at the tour.Watching the movie is an experience in itself. Everyone at the theater is truly excitedto be there and is so welcoming to their fellow “Swifties.” Many people even show upin Taylor Swift merch or outfits inspired by Swift. The almost three hour movie is acinematic experience like no other. It truly encapsulates the feeling of being at thetour from the comfort of a movie theater chair.REVIEWED BY GABRIELLE R.reviewed by Leonardo M.G.The Wild Robot by Peter BrownThe Wild Robot (2016) is a science fiction bookabout a robot that is traveling on a ship thatcrashed. She lands on an island and she learnshow to get along with the animals. Everythingis different and unusual to her and the way shewas programmed. She adopts a son that is aduck and other robots go looking for her. I likeit because she has to make friends and getalong with them in order to survive.66 Taylor Swift: The Eras TourTaylor Swift’s Eras Tour has become inescapable.
