Ways to fund your awardYour generosity has the power to transform the lives of our talented students. We are grateful for all the unique and powerful reasons that motivate our donors to support student awards.Awards can be funded by creating an annual award or by establishing an endowment. An annual award is funded through annual gifts or by a single gift that can be disbursed over a period of time. An endowment supports an award indefinitely.Setting up an Annual Award• The minimum commitment for an annual award is $10,000 (generally $2,000 for 5 years).• An initial pledge of 3 to 5 years is required to create a new award.Award Type Minimum Donation per yearScholarship/Bursary/Award $2,000 Renewable Entrance Awards for Undergraduate Students $10,000Graduate Fellowship $30,000Renewable Entrance Awards for International Students $50,000Setting up an Endowed Award• The minimum requirement to set up a new endowment at UBC is $50,000. • Your gift is considered the initial capital which is invested by UBC. As the fund increases in value, the amount the award is worth will increase over time.• Each year, the amount given to students is determined by the spend rate, which is a percentage of the fund’s three-year average market value.
