Our Muay Thai class is legendary for its incredibleworkout and quick gains. We teach everyone from day one how to jump ropeand fundamental exercises. 99% of people havenever jumped rope or are just plain scared to do it. No worries! Everyone feels the same when theyfirst step on the mat. Have faith that we will getyou going in no time at all. We want you to get intotop shape so we can get your body to do what wewant it to do! :)The striking techniques will begin with a slow paceso we can develop strong technique. From therewe will go to pad work to add power and feel. You will also learn how to hold the pads. This is animportant part of training. We learn to see thestrikes coming and help our training partner get agreat workout as well.Typically within 4-5 months of training you willslowly add controlled, technical sparring. This isan important step in order to understand thetechnique, control and distance. In your BJJ class you will start to learnimmediately in our warm ups! We start every classwith fundamental body movement drills & skillsthat you will need in every technique.Eventually you will RANODRI, which means livetraining or sparring. This is where we get toimplement the techniques, strategies andconcepts from class against a resisting opponent. You won't get to roll right away. This is for a fewreasons, but mainly so that you understand thebasic movements to BJJ and aren't an injury riskto yourself and training partners (a nice way ofsaying you no longer "spaz out"). There are no strikes in BJJ so it's inherently safe totrain super hard. Also we have an amazing cultureof camaraderie and family. In other words, noone's out to hurt you. So don't try to hurt them!Remember, it's just Jiu Jitsu! We aren't handingout medals or UFC titles on the mat. I say thisjokingly because we've got an incredibly inclusive, cooperative and friendly training environment.Yes, we train super hard at times, but always withconsideration for our training partners well-being. Without them, we can't train! PLEASE BOW ON & OFFPLEASE BOW ON & OFFTHE MATTHE MATMARTIAL ARTS STARTS & ENDSMARTIAL ARTS STARTS & ENDSWITH RESPECT.WITH RESPECT. Gi vs No Gi. Which one is better? To gi, or not to gi,that is the question. Few topics in Jiu Jitsu are aspolarizing as this debate. Which is better? Whichis more important? More exciting? More pure?To us, this debate has always been silly. It's 2sides to the same coin. At the end of the day. it'sall Jiu Jitsu. The grips and control are different, but the principles are the same. Train both! This also gives you twice as manyclasses to choose from. Nice! In our No Gi BJJ MMA class we also add in somestriking concepts with the grappling. It isprimarily no gi Jiu Jitsu, but the addition of strikinghelps keep the self defense in Jiu Jitsu true to itsorigins. In this class we balance out our Adult training withweapons. Beginning with basic stick and bladedrills. These are drills and skills that will build upover time, We focus on the Filipino art of DocePares Eskrima. We also offer for advanced studentssparring. This is obviously done in controlledmanner and under instructor supervision. We also offer in this class Jeet Kune Do (The Way ofthe Intercepting Fist). This was Bruce Lee's trainingphilosophy as taught to Eric Colòn from the late Sigung Richard Bustillo, former student of BruceLee. It is a great way to help blend all the arts we offerinto a well rounded self defense approach.
