When undertaking any written assessment tasks, students are to ensure that they focus on the set tasks and that all written work is legible. Prior to the students commencing the assessments, the assessor will explain each assessment task and the terms and conditions relating to the submission of the assessment task. It is important that students understand and adhere to the terms and conditions and address each assessment task fully. If any assessment task is not fully addressed, then the assessment task will be returned for re-submission. Assessment Components The assessor will examine all of the required assessment evidence submitted for this unit of competency and decide whether: a. Satisfactory performance has been demonstrated for this assessment, or b. Satisfactory performance has not yet been demonstrated. If the student is deemed as unsatisfactory, they will need to discuss with the assessor any further evidence required. Students may only need to be reassessed on the area that was not assessed as satisfactory. Please note that students must satisfactorily complete all assessment tasks to be deemed competent for this unit. Students cannot be signed off as competent for this unit until any/all workplace and/or practical experience requirements have been met. Submission of Assessments At the end of this unit, the student will need to: 1. Read and complete the Assessment Outcome Report form. 2. Submit the following directly to the assessor via the method relevant to the student’s enrolment (either physically submit or upload to the relevant submission portal). a. The signed Assessment Outcome Report form b. The completed assessment tasks. c. Any additional evidence (if applicable) for the assessment task 3. If any component of the assessments task is missing or incomplete upon submission, return the submission to the student. Mark each assessment task and give the student either a ‘Satisfactory’ or ‘Not Yet Satisfactory’ outcome on the Assessor Acknowledgement Form at the end of each assessment. Determine the overall result and provide them with some feedback and any follow-up actions. Once all assessment tasks have been marked ‘Satisfactory’, the student can be deemed “Competent” for this unit which must be recorded on the student’s Assessment Outcome Report Form. Plagiarism and Copyright Plagiarism is taking and using someone else's thoughts, writings or inventions and representing them as the student’s own. Plagiarism is a serious act and may result in the student’s exclusion from a course. If the student has any doubts about including the work of other authors in their submissions, they should consult with the assessor. The following list outlines some of the activities for which the student may be accused of plagiarism:

If it is identified that the student has plagiarised within their assessment task, then the assessor will organise a meeting to discuss the repercussions. Students must take care when copying the work of others. The owner of the material may take legal action against the student if the owner's copyright has been infringed. Student are permitted to copy, for research or study purposes, generally 10% or one chapter of a book, where studying with, or employed by, an educational institution. Feedback The assessor must provide the student with feedback on each assessment task within two weeks of submission. Detail whether the student completed each question satisfactorily as well as the basis on which the determination was made. If the student requires more detailed feedback, they are encouraged to request to see the marked copy of the assessment task during a one-on-one interview with the assessor. Reassessment If the student has not provided correct or sufficient information to meet the requirements of a question or questions in the assessment task, the assessor will notify them and provide them with an opportunity for reassessment. Reassessment will either require the student to complete the entire assessment task again or will require the revision of a small section of the assessment task. This will depend on the overall level of performance and the number of criteria against which the student was assessed as not having performed satisfactorily. If they require reassessment the assessor will discuss the requirements and set a due date for the revised work. Appeals Process If the student is not satisfied with the outcome of their assessment result or the assessment process, they have the right to appeal. The appeals process explains that the student must: 1. Speak to the assessor and ask them to explain their decision. Discuss the areas that they felt needed more attention and why. 2. If the student is happy with this explanation, work together on a development plan to help them acquire the relevant skills and/or knowledge, or to provide additional evidence of their competence. 3. If they are still unhappy after understanding the assessor’s explanation, then they will be required to formally submit their assessment appeal in writing to the RTO Manager or their delegate. Any appeal against an assessment decision must be managed in strict confidence. Reasonable Adjustment Where it is determined appropriate for the purposes of reasonable adjustment, a verbal competency conversation can occur to cover these areas with the permission of the RTO
