Europe Starts Here
The Village is a fall semester in Europe, based in a 1000 year old monastery, set in the heart of an ancient French town in the Loire Valley. All students receive academic credit from UWF.
The Village's home is a listed, historical monument.
Where the morning and evening bells are our only noise pollution,
And where our active learning takes place everywhere
Because our classrooms are always moving
And our liberal arts courses come accordingly to life.
Our faculty deliver unrivalled passion for teaching on-site. Our classes include History, Art History, French, Social Psychology, Mass Communications, Film and the History of Science
We use local experts to help our students meet their European neighbors first-hand
Just as we use service learning, host families and daily lunch in our local bistro to assure that our student connect with their town.
The results are spectacular, as our students gain cultural confidence and a more cosmopolitan voice every week.
Just in time, as The Village shifts to central Paris, where we live and learn all over the city for an amazing week.
We use no traditional classrooms, preferring to teach in museums and the streets
Shortly after Paris, The Village launches into travel again with our legendary period of JOURNEY.
On JOURNEY, our seminars go where their learning makes most sense. So our History students head for Munich, to use the city as base to teach the Nazi seiszure of power and the history of the Holocaust.
While our Literature students head West, making their home for a week in Dublin and elsewhere in Ireland.
And our Art History students make London their home, using its incredible museums to see all of Europe's masterpieces.
