The third book in the Seven Wonders Series. that continues the journey of Jack McKinly, Allie Black, Cass Williams and Marco Ramsey. They have no access to their family, friends or the internet. They are stuck on a small island that cannot be found by any radar. But all four of them have a deadline. They all are going to die at the age of 14 because they have a genetic disorder called G7W that is basically a timebomb located in their brain. They have this disorder because they are descended from the great lost civilization of Atlantis. The four are called "Selects" because they have been selected to undergo a numerous amount of tests that just barely keep them alive.  But there is a cure for them. If they locate, they will become superhumans. But the cure is literally impossible to get. They have to get seven orb-like globes called loculi's that are located in each of the Seven Wonders. The Great Pyramid of Giza, Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Statue of Zeus at Olympia, Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, Colossus of Rhodes and the Lighthouse of Alexandria. Their doctor; Professor Bhegad says that all they have to do is to get these loculi and they are free to go. They already have possession of the ones that were located in Rhodes and Babylon and their mission now it to get it from Halicarnassus. But their mission stops abruptly when they discover that the Kairi Institue (where the base for the Selects is) has gone up in flames. There is an enemy that had revealed themselves to the selects in the second book and they destroyed the whole institute. During the attack, Professor Bhegad was severely wounded and the only cure was the loculi of Healing. They start to head over to the Mausoleum when Jack decides to call his dad. His dad is so happy to hear from his son since he had believed his son had died. They land in New Zeland; where Jacks dad is stationed for his job. They tell him how they are all going to die by the age of 14 and his dad decides to help them. The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus is located in Turkey and when they get there, they have to go into the Mausoleum. As they enter, they meet Skilaki; the guard of Artemisia. She requires a soul in order to enter, so the professor offers himself up. They go through a brutal time from running away from zombies to escaping a river that cleared your memory. They finally get the orb and escape to New York where Jack destroys the loculi of healing to save the world.

Jack McKinley and three other kids find themselves on this island in the middle of nowhere. They don't know why they're there. It turns out that they are subjects of a study. They each have a gene that they've inherited from a prince who escaped the sinking of the island of Atlantis centuries ago and all these years later they have this Gene which takes whatever they're already good at and turns it into a superpower. One of the kids is really good at sports and all of a sudden he's sinking jump shots from 50 yards away. One of them is really good at Tech and so she can hack into anything. These kids are developing these talents but they don't know that anybody who's ever had this Gene has never lived past the age of 14 and they're all 13 years old. They find out about all this on the island in an institution that says that they have found a cure. If they can find 7 magical objects known as Loculis that were taken from Atlantis before it sank by this Prince centuries ago and hid them in the each one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World which was built for that purpose, and they bring these magical objects back to the island, they will be cured and are promised that they will live a long life and coincidentally will also save the world.

A Loculi is an orb that gives a select special powers. There is one loculi located in each of the 7 Wonders of the World. The first one that the four found gave a select the power of flight and the second one gave the power of invisibility. The third one gives the power of healing.

What is a Loculi?

The story starts out from where it ended in the second book: Egypt. Jack, Ally, and Cass have got the second loculi and are headed to the Kari Institute. They arrive to see that their home is in flames. The enemy has taken it and has badly injured Professor Bhegad, the man who is trying to save the selects. They have to get the third Loculi which can heal the Professor. The third globe is located in Turkey at the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus. It is in another world and all other time freezes. What is famous about the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus is where they bury dead people. When the three get the Loculi, they enter a travel port that takes them to New York, but all the dead people and zombies follow them. In order to save the world from the apocalypse, Jack needs to destroy the Loculi of healing, and he comes across; his mom. She had faked her own death and he now sees that she is alive. He does not speak to her, but he knows that she is alive.

Cass Williams

Cass has the nickname Sailor because if you name two locations, he can give you precise directions on how to get there. Plus he's never incorrect. He also can speak backward. His favorite word to say is emosewa which is awesome backward.

Professor  Bhegad

The professor is a graduate of Yale with a Ph. D in Genetics and has spent his whole life finding a cure for G7W. He may be crazy sometimes, but he has a special place in his heart for Jack, Ally, Cass and Marco. At first, none of the selects trusted him, but after a while, they did until Marco joined Massa. He is a man of determination and wanting to find a cure for the selects.

Jack McKinley

He is the main character in the book. Professor Bhegad gave the selects all a nickname. Jack's name was Tailor. He got this nickname because he is the one who puts it all together. Whenever there is a problem, he is the one who always solves it. He thinks that he is useless, but he really is the leader of them all.

Ally Black

She is the only girl select that has the nickname tinker. She has this name because she is so technologically inclined. When she was 7, she hacked into the FBI's security system and put in kitten pictures to be funny. The FBI decided that they wanted to hire her.

It is debatable if Torquin is a human. He weighs 300 pounds and most of that is muscle and he never wears any shoes. No shoes can ever fit the whopping feet of his. He also loves the selects even though it seems that he hates everyone. He is the Professors and the selects bodyguard and goes with the selects just about everywhere they go. As Jack, Ally, Cass and Marco get to know him better, he opens up to them ,

Marco Ramsy

He is the human version of superman. He can drain a half court shot blindfolded! He has great strength and determination. He never gives up. But when he was in Egypt with the others, be betrayed the Kairi Institute and became part of Massa. He now works for them and is trying to get the Loculi for them.

About the Author

Book Review

I would give the book a five-star rating because it keeps the reader always wondering what will happen next and how will they solve the current problem. This book also gives a historical view of Halicarnassus. It shows what kind of place it is and what its like during the time of Artemisia Queen of Halicarnassus.
