HEY,SWEETIE READERSThis magazine was created for a photography project at school. Ihave always been interested in fashion and combined it with mylove of photography. In this era, anything can be fashionable to acertain niche of people. Well, I wanted to represent the cute, thecreepy, and everything in between. I wanted to create a magazinefor those who have a “weird” fashion sense and are proud of it. I would describe my style as a spectrum. I can go from vintagegrandma to a creepy clown. I want my photographs and magazineto be a combination of contrasting aesthetics. I forced asked myfriends to be my models, dolled them up, and got to shooting ininteresting places. So that you won’t be completely bored (I don’tknow how you could be bored looking at my beautiful friends),I’ve included games and stuff to read while you flip through thepages.I hope you find this magazine to be interesting and worthwhile.Even if you are just my photography teacher trying to grade myproject or are just the friends I forced to read it and are just gonnaskim through, I want to thank you anyways. A Sweetie is a fashion person that doesn’t care about fashion“rules.” Sweetie’s come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Theylove exploring the duality between edgy and cutesy. They mixthe sweet and the bold. Mixing soft, lacey pink with dark, gaudymakeup. They take inspiration from all subcultures to createtheir own unique style.A Sweetie is quirky and playful. They have an appreciation formodern and retro styles. Although she’s a Sweetie, she is notafraid to stand her ground and call you out. SWhat makes a 04

This photoshoot was inspired by my love for all things pink. My teacher took us to BokTowers and let me and my model tour the home of Charles Austin Buck. I used softpastels and lace for the outfit and added some contrasting details. One of her wristsadorns a spiked bracelet, and she is wearing black combat boots. I took pictures all around the garden and in El Retiro, a mansion built in the 1930s.The setup was easy. I would spot a place that looked good for pictures based on thelighting and if it matched my model. I would then think of poses and instruct mymodel to do them. I struggled with communicating correctly because it was my firsttime telling someone how to pose. Overall, I am very proud of how it turned out. ISO $1600F/ $3.5$1/30 SEC07

Me and my model, Paige, have been dying to take pictures in a specific antique mall, ina particular room, for months. When I decided to take photos for this genre, this wasthe first photoshoot I thought of doing. I took inspiration from what we deem “the dollroom” at this mall, as well as a doll-like style. For her makeup, I had told her that sheshould basically look like a sick doll. Her outfit is meant to capture the essence of aVictorian haunted doll. Her accessories were picked to contrast her look but not takeall the attention. I instructed her to pose in an odd but cute way.19ISO $800F/ $4$1/60 SEC

The staple piece of a Sweetie are bows, bows, and more bows. Bows made ofleather, lace, and ribbons.5A choker of any kind can really spiceup an outfit. It can be spiked, lacey, and just a simple ribbon. Just becareful of, y’know, choking. Chunky chain, rings, and earrings.Extra points for excessive layering.Charm bracelets are so cute! You canmake them to fit any style you want.Hair clips can be any color and size youwant. I’ve seen a paper clip hair cliponce. 28

This photoshoot was inspired by late nineties and early2000s fashion. I wanted the editing and pages to reflectthat as well. I picked out another victim from my classand dolled her up at school. I wanted this shoot tocapture a sassy schoolgirl, and she did perfectly. Afterfinding that jacket in my mom’s closet, I did everythingin my power to find a perfect outfit to match. And letme tell you, that might have taken a couple of hours(and might have left a huge pile of clothes on my bed). ISO $500F/ $3.5$1/80 SECWanna know the ISO?31

08This photoshoot was inspired by gothic, vintage aesthetics. The outfit and makeupare meant to be gaudy, but in a darkerpalette. This local book store is a perfectplace to contrast, but also kind of mix withthe look. It does not contrast too much. Theoutfit is a modern, folk-gothic take on theclothing of the Middle Ages. My model’smakeup was meant to look clown-ish and anod to the 80's goth style.40ISO $1600F/ $4.5$1/50 SECISO $800F/ $4.5$1/60 SECISO $800F/ $3.5$1/40 SEC
