My tenure with the Presidio Theatre began in August 2024and I am thrilled you can come on this journey with me as we discoverand experience artists and organizations from the Bay Area andaround the world. Tucked away in the middle of the beautiful Presidio National Park, thisstate-of-the-art theatre was brought to life through the vision andgenerosity of Presidio Theatre founder Peggy Haas. This season, we will honor the Theatre’s founding by bringing back audience favorites and we will look to thefuture by presenting new artists and cutting-edge organizations. From September to May, wewill present over 90 shows that are influenced by our 4 pillars of programming – Art, Dance,Theater, and Music. Our philosophy is to engage with our community, allow artists to showcasetheir talents, and utilize our stages and spaces to give them the opportunity to explore theirsingular visions. We have launched a new Resident Artistic Companies program. For the next two seasons, thePresidio Theatre welcomes five Resident Artistic Companies (RESCO’s) to present exclusiveprogramming at the Theatre that will enable these organizations to grow artistically andinstitutionally, develop audiences, and collaborate on key projects while maintaining theirrespective missions and identities. The first class of RESCO’s are San Francisco Arts EducationProject, Chamber Music San Francisco, Children’s Theatre Association of San Francisco, NewCentury Chamber Orchestra, and Preservation Hall Jazz Band from New Orleans. This catalogincludes descriptions of their works and their performance dates.We invite you to make the Presidio Theatre your home and I encourage you to become aPresidio Theatre member to help support our artistic programs and to help maintain our historicbuilding. THE PRESIDIO THEATRE’S NEW SEASON HISTORY IN THE MAKINGBY LOU FANCHERHistory, modernity, and a mission to embrace and support the Bay Area community through live arts, blend in sweet harmony forthe Presidio Theatre’s 2025/26 season. The expansive upcoming season will present over 90 performances focusing on theTheatre’s four pillars of programming – art, dance, theater, and music – and introduces five, inaugural Resident Artistic Companies.The new season will feature a wide-range of musicians and groups across multiple genres and styles. Musical highlights include twocelebrations of Miles Davis’s Centennial with Mino For Miles on September 6 and Unlimited Miles on May 14, the punjabi group RedBaraat on September 18, famed YouTuber Rick Beato on September 25, The Police guitarist Andy Summers on September 27, banjomaster Noam Pikelny on October 15, jazz from Brad Mehldau and Christian McBride on October 16 and 17, Valentine’s week of lovefeaturing a collection of singers from February 12 to 15, Ukrainian group DakhaBrakha on February 21 and 22, South Africa’sLadysmith Black Mambazo on March 1, Sweet Honey In The Rock on May 9 and 10, and more.Dance is a major component of the new season with special and exclusive performances from ODC/Dance on September 4,Giordano Dance Chicago on October 25, Paul Taylor Dance on March 20, and Flamenco Arts International on May 23.Theater is a mainstay of the upcoming season as we welcome back the beloved holiday tradition of Panto in the Presidio and thereturn of last year’s sold-out Peter Pan for two dozen performances from November 29 to December 28. The legendary comedygroup The Second City will celebrate its 65th anniversary on September 5, Broadway legends Brian Stokes Mitchell appears onSeptember 20 and 21 and Cheyenne Jackson on January 30, Piaf! The Show, on February 5, celebrates her 110th birthday, and wepresent the modern circus group Cirque Mechanics and their show Tilt! on March 21 and 22.The Presidio Theatre welcomes five resident companies for a two-season partnership with the Presidio Theatre. The companies areNew Orleans-based Preservation Hall Jazz Band, San Francisco Arts Education Project, Chamber Music SF, Children’s TheaterAssociation of San Francisco, and New Century Chamber Orchestra. San Francisco Arts Education Project Artistic Director Emily Wheeler says, “We are enormously grateful to the Presidio Theatre. Thisis our fourth season with them and our 24th year producing musicals. The venue is beautifully appointed and the operations areprofoundly professional.” Preservation Hall Jazz Band returns to the Presidio Theatre from April 9 to 12 after their sold-out Mardi Gras celebration at theTheatre in February 2025. Preservation Hall Jazz Band’s creative director and tuba player Ben Jaffe says “With this new collaboration,artists and audiences can explore new and existing connections. It’s an achievement. There is mutual trust and I take that to heart. Acollaboration at this level is joyful to me.”Chamber Music SF’s small ensemble and solo recitals have traditionally unfolded in musical “conversations” between classical musiccomposers, top tier performing artists, and audience members. The intimacy of their concerts sidestep intimidation, encouragetrust, and enable every participant to listen deeply and discover new connections. This collaboration will allow Chamber Music SF toexpand their voice and programs.The fifth resident company, the Children’s Theatre Association, was founded in 1934 by twenty women who recognized a dearth oflive theater performances geared for young people in San Francisco. Flash forward 90 years to contemporary times, the nonprofitcontinues to flourish with professional directors and actors and a considerable corp of volunteers leading the charge to providetheater art experiences to children. In 2019, CTA made the Presidio Theatre its permanent home; the resident company statusenables them to solidify and build upon the association.

PRESIDIO THEATRE’S RESIDENT ARTISTIC COMPANIESFor the next two seasons, the Presidio Theatre welcomes five Resident Artistic Companies to present exclusive programmingat the Theatre to enable these organizations to grow artistically and institutionally, develop audiences, and collaborate onkey projects while maintaining their respective missions and identities. The first Resident Artistic Companies for the 2025–26and 2026–27 seasons are: Preservation Hall Jazz Band returns to the Presidio Theatre to follow-up theirFebruary 2025 sold-out shows and Mardi Gras parties. Founded in 1961, thebeloved Preservation Hall is a global institution and the Jazz Band has helpedto define the musical traditions of the Crescent City for more than six decades.Preservation Hall Jazz Band presents the Big Easy’s musical heritage and thewealth of New Orleans’ musical talent.The Children’s Theatre Association of San Francisco was established in 1934 as an all volunteer, non-profitwomen’s organization dedicated to providing live musical theatre for school children in the San FranciscoBay Area, particularly for those who might not otherwise experience it. In 2026, they will present OnceUpon a Mattress, Youth Edition with performances on January 24, 25, 31, February 1, 7, 28.The San Francisco Arts Education Project was founded in 1968 and for fifty-plus years has stayed true to itsmission of enriching the lives of children by facilitating hands-on participation in the visual and performingarts—taught by practicing artists. The SFArtsED Players, a troupe of 45 performers ages 9 to 14, will presenttheir annual spring musical for audiences of all ages. Past shows on the Presidio Theatre stage have includedAnnie, Newsies, The Little Mermaid and Shrek the Musical. Performances from May 1 – 3.One of only a handful of conductorless chamber ensembles in the world, New Century Chamber Orchestrawas founded in 1992 and includes 19 string players from the San Francisco Bay Area as well as throughoutthe United States. Musical decisions are made collaboratively, resulting in an enhanced level of commitmentfrom the musicians and concerts of remarkable precision, passion, and power. Performances on March 14and April 25.Chamber Music San Francisco is dedicated to the presentation of chamber music concerts and recitals of thehighest possible quality. Beyond the presentation of excellent concerts, we seek to build new audiencesfor chamber music, which we believe embodies the most direct and accessible communication fromcomposer to listener. Performances include Stella Chen-Matt Lipman-Brannon Cho Trio on March 8, MyriadTrio on March 28, Nathan Meltzer on April 19, and Escher Quartet with Brandon Patrick George on May 17. In 2016 he was awarded his second TonyAward, the prestigious Isabelle Stevenson Tony for his Charitablework with The Actors Fund. That same year Stokes was inductedinto the Theatre Hall of Fame.
