March 2021 Adar Nisan 5781 parksynagogue org 216 371 2244 facebook com parksyn Happy Passover from Park Synagogue A s I write this I realize that it has been a year since our world turned upside down and our physical presence at Park Synagogue ceased In an instant and what a challenging year this has been for us and indeed for the whole world In our Park Synagogue world we have figured out a way to be together while apart New friendships have been formed and both an old and new sense of community has prevailed There has been a lot to inspire us but it has been a long hard year Finally with spring ahead we at last see shoots of hope everywhere While we are still staying socially distant and wearing masks vaccinations have started and are accelerating offering us a glimpse of a future normality Following health guidelines we ve been able to slowly expand our numbers attending in person Bar and Bat Mitzvahs Despite the disappointment of postponing the opening of Park Day Camp until summer of 2022 we are taking registration for preschool this fall and planning for school activities at Park East in hopes that the Covid picture continues to change for the better Plans for construction are proceeding and we are figuring out ways to continue to use the synagogue in person throughout again with hopeful hearts that slow and steady progress continues Our fundraising to support our beautiful new campus continues with plans for our congregational launch when spring has solidly arrived So many of you have stepped forward with pledges toward our future and I am profoundly grateful for your investment in Park Synagogue and its future While the formal launch is ahead and we have raised 25 million in pledges so far we need 7 million dollars more to reach our goal If you feel ready to make a commitment before our formal launch as many of you have done I m always available to take you through the plans We have continued to strive for a good solution for our Cleveland Heights site and are pursuing two new options for collaboration while we pursue every possibility We remain committed to exploring every option for our historic site and many congregants have stepped forward to help us in our thinking around this process This too is a true community effort and I will keep you posted on all developments as we get more information The days are getting longer spring is coming and good things are ahead for Park Synagogue and our wonderful community Thanks to you all for maintaining its vibrancy through this year of years Susan Ratner Park Synagogue President susratner gmail com
