Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. We wish to shine light on Kerma’s own Black History, which started with our co-founders, Joyce Kershaw-Reubel & Earl G. Reubel. In 1991, two outstanding business minded people decided to launch Kerma Medical Products, Inc., a woman-minority owned small business, to penetrate a market that was not inclusive to all, and took it by storm. They were able to knock down doors and gain business opportunities by forming relationships and industry respect by being persistent, consistent, and true to their word. They are the foundation of Kerma and the Core of our Values: Integrity, Accountability, Provide Quality Products and Services, and Initiative. Joyce & Earl created hundreds of jobs for their communities and formulated the strategy for Kerma to be one of the largest diversity manufacturer/supplier companies in the private sector. “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” - Barack Obama Employee/Company Achievements We would like to give our thanks to all employees. We appreciate your hard work and everything you do that supports and allows Kerma to be where we are today! Stay safe and warm as winter poses concern for cold stress and other problems due to the increase in extreme weather conditions. Cold stress occurs by driving down the skin temperature, and eventually the internal body temperature. When the body is unable to warm itself, serious cold-related illnesses and injuries may occur, and permanent tissue damage and death may result. Types of cold stress include: trench foot, frostbite, hypothermia, and chilblains. Winter driving can be challenging, but there are several steps you can take to ensure your safety on the road. Here are some tips to help you prepare your vehicle for winter weather: 1) Get your car serviced: Visit your mechanic for a tune-up and ask them to check for leaks, badly worn hoses, or other needed parts, repairs, and replacements. 2) Check your battery: Battery power drops as the temperature drops. Make sure your battery is in good condition and fully charged. 3) Inspect your tires: Make sure your tires have adequate tread depth and are properly inflated. Consider installing snow tires for better traction on snow and ice. 4) Check your cooling system: Make sure your cooling system is in good working order and has the proper level of antifreeze. 5) Keep your gas tank full: Try to keep your gas tank at least half full to avoid gas line freeze-up. 6) Pack an emergency kit: In case you get stranded, pack an emergency kit that includes a blanket, warm clothing, food, water, a flashlight, and a rst-aid kit. 7) Familiarize yourself with your vehicle’s safety technologies: Know whether your vehicle has an antilock brake system and learn how to use it properly. Remember to drive slowly and cautiously, and always wear your seatbelt. Stay safe out there! A Key Performance Indicator (KPI) is a quantifiable metric used to measure progress towards a specific goal or objective. KPIs are essential management tools that help organizations determine if their work is making an impact, demonstrate value, manage resources, and focus improvement efforts. KPIs provide a focus for strategic and operational improvement, create an analytical basis for decision making, and help focus attention on what matters most. Effective KPIs follow the SMART goal framework, meaning that they are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-bound. KPIs can track efficiency, effectiveness, quality, timeliness, governance, compliance, behaviors, economics, project performance, personnel performance, or resource utilization Manufacturing Insider “Wishing you all a Happy New Year!
