Meet the Williams Family – bringing a unique blend of expertise and enthusiasm to their roles as NAM State Directors for Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Scotty, Rebecca, and their daughter Macy have worked in the television, film, modeling, acting, photography, and pageant business for more than 20 years. They prioritize fostering a fun, supportive, and inclusive environment where contestants can shine. Their dedication to each participant's growth is evident in their hands-on approach and personalized guidance throughout the pageant journey. They’re committed to upholding the values and integrity of National American Miss while nurturing the talents and aspirations of each contestant. Rebecca understands firsthand that pageants can be a launching pad for a young woman’s dreams having participated in the Miss America system, modeled, and acted while in college. The experience and skills she gained helped in her career as a television news anchor for CBS and NBC network affiliate stations covering events from a presidential inauguration and the opening of Universal Studios to high-profile court cases and unsolved mysteries. She’s also had the opportunity to appear in national TV commercials, shows and films, including The Avengers, Tag, Game Night, Insatiable, Bad Moms Christmas, and many more. Scotty is an award-winning videographer, producer, and photographer having covered the Olympics, the Indy 500, and countless events for ABC, NBC, and CBS. He has also acted in many productions including MacGyver, Bad Boys, The Resident, Night School, Dynasty, Necessary Roughness and many more. And he has photographed contestants for several pageants systems nationwide including National American Miss, International Junior Miss, Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, and Miss America. Macy Williams brings her own brand of talent and creativity to the team as an accomplished presenter, trainer, event planner and photographer. She has an innate knack for orchestrating unforgettable, memorable experiences that provide opportunities for each participant to feel comfortable and celebrated. Her talent behind the lens has earned her recognition in the industry with her work being featured on many social media channels and websites, including retailer Ann Taylor. The Williams family’s passion for mentorship and dedication to fostering personal and professional growth shine through in every aspect of their work. But beyond the glitz and glamour lies a deeper purpose—a commitment to empowering young women to embrace their strengths, pursue their dreams, and make a positive impact on the world. This April, the Crown of Opportunities took the IJM Dynasty to the United Kingdom where they truly made the world their runway! The weekend buzzed into life with a dazzling welcome from Ruth Wade and the spectacular International Junior Miss UK team. From the moment they arrived, our queens were plunged into a whirlwind of glittering festivities that showcased the true spirit of pageantry! Upon arrival, the queens jumped straight into the excitement with check-in and a high energy kickoff party that set the stage for a weekend of glamour and camaraderie. The girls then took part in an informative workshop hosted by Lisa Dean and took new headshots with the talented Jason Wade Photography. We are so lucky to have Lisa Dean and Jason Wade Photography as valued sponsors of IJM! As night fell, the atmosphere electrified with the neon party where all the queens dressed to impress! The dance floor became a sea of glowing lights, laughter, and unforgettable memories being made. The festivities continued with our queens bonding like sisters and sharing cheers as they watched the UK delegates shine on stage in their optional and final competitions. The competition segments were a parade of talent and elegance as the girls on stage gave the entire audience a spectacular performance! Six new queens were then welcomed into the International Junior Miss UK family and are now set to join the IJM family at Internationals in Virginia Beach in 2025! Amidst the sparkle and cheer, a thrilling secret was unveiled. The Crown of Opportunities is set to take the IJM Dynasty to the enchanting shores of Belize! 39National American Miss has taught me the most valuable lesson: my voice matters. I've learned about myself, and as a result, my voice is strong and clear. My primary area of community involvement is serving as an international vitiligo awareness ambassador. I've appeared on the news, been interviewed for a magazine, and served as a featured speaker at the World Vitiligo Day Conference. I modeled for a photo series exhibit aimed at raising awareness. I even co-wrote a book with my mom – Angel's Big Splash: A Pup Prep Book about Loving the Skin You're In will hit bookstores and Amazon this year. All these experiences showed me how much yearning there is for youth voices. I'm not sure if I would even be a vitiligo ambassador if it weren't for NAM. When I first started NAM, I was living with white patches of vitiligo on my skin, and I was embarrassed that I looked different. I wore tights to cover my patches and tried to hide my spots with clothing and lotions. I didn't talk about vitiligo during my first year competing, and my differences remained hidden. I learned something in that year, though. I saw other girls talking about their seen and unseen differences. They were proud of their unique qualities. I think their confidence rubbed off on me. I became involved in Minnesota VITFriends, a local support group for the vitiligo community. The members celebrated and encouraged me in my National American Miss adventure. They encouraged me to proudly represent the vitiligo community to both raise awareness and show others with vitiligo that our patches are beautiful. It's incredible what supportive communities can do for you. When I returned to NAM the following year, I brought along my new confidence and proudly showed off my vitiligo patches. I used my voice and embraced NAM's core value of service to raise awareness about vitiligo. I found that being authentic is more fun and easier than hiding who you are. I'm so happy that NAM requires service. It makes you think about what is important to you and then encourages you to take steps to make a difference.
40The community service requirement of the National American Miss program encouraged me to identify how my passions intersect with the needs of our world. Learning that I could, and should, make a real difference in ways that mattered to me was invigorating! I began my NAM journey as a Jr. Pre-Teen, and right about that same time, I watched a documentary about the disappearing habitat of orangutans. As I have always been naturally curious, I started exploring how and why orangutans were threatened by human action. Sustainability became a passion, and I campaigned against the irresponsible harvesting of palm oil and the destruction of biodiverse environments like the habitat of orangutans. I met with industry leaders in the consumer goods sector, like Target and General Mills, and became a resident orangutan expert! Fast forward to today, my passion for orangutans has expanded to encompass the environment as a whole. I've updated my platform of Meredith Saves Orangutans to Our World with Meredith. Our World produces educational videos to inspire youth of all ages to get outside, inform viewers of environmental threats, promote sustainability, and share stories about my experiences as an environmental advocate. As the National American Miss Teen, I've worked with our state legislators and visited the White House, sharing my views and advocating for responsible environmental policies. This spring, I spent time at the Department of the Interior. I learned about the origins of our National Park System and how the Environmental Protection Agency implements policies that balance the needs of our nation's businesses and our land, water, and air. I also love sharing behind-the-scenes interviews with restaurants and companies regarding their sustainability efforts. I also have other passions and love fundraising for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research and volunteering for organizations that help those living with neurodegenerative disease. National American Miss taught me at a young age that my passions are important. I learned from older girls who served as role models, making real differences in their communities. Being a part of NAM means I'm automatically surrounded by inspiring girls and young women. I love being a part of a community that teaches youth how to give back and support one another in making an even more significant impact.
