Do Not Copy or Duplicate| Copyright Invest N Others LLC 2022 STRATEGY 1 Don’t Rely Just on College orUniversity Merit-based/Academic-BasedScholarships Regardless of how high your grade point average (GPA)or test scores are, do not rely just on college oruniversity merit-based or academic-based scholarshipsto fully fund your education. Making the assumptionthat a college or university will offer enoughscholarship funding may lead to disappointment andpanic. Some colleges and universities offer great scholarshipopportunities. Make sure you still take the SAT and/orACT test for merit-based scholarships even if a collegemakes these tests "optional"for admissions. While some scholars may receive full scholarships, thismay not be the case for others. Some students withstrong GPAs and test scores are disappointed becausethey did not receive enough college scholarships andthey failed to apply for external scholarships. Don’tmake this mistake! Apply for ALL types of scholarships from varioussources until you get your funding needs met. College or University$$$Page 6

Do Not Copy or Duplicate| Copyright Invest N Others LLC 2022 Your goal should be to apply for all types ofscholarships. There are well-known scholarships andnational scholarships that students are very familiarwith. Therefore, these popular scholarships get a lot ofapplicants. That is why applying for local scholarships can be a difference maker. Local scholarships are hidden gems because they areoften overlooked and have small applicant pools. Thismeans you have greater odds of getting awardedthese types of scholarships when you apply and meetthe eligibility requirements. Many local scholarship providers want to targetstudents in their local communities, like you. Local scholarship providers in your community couldbe religious organizations, local government entities,non-profit organizations, businesses, civicorganizations, social organizations, etc. Surprisingly, very few students seek out localscholarships because they do not know they exist orhow to find them. School counselors are a great scholarship sourcewhen looking for local opportunities. Many schoolsshare local scholarships on their school website or byemail to parents and students.STRATEGY 7 Don't Overlook Local ScholarshipsPage 14
