Where to Start Our Philosophy of Service There are so many ways to connect at POPCS Jesus taught by example the importance of serving However you choose to serve whether it s helping in a classroom serving on Ice Cream Fridays or working in the School Store you are a part of Team Blue and being used by God to accomplish His mission here When you volunteer we pray you do so with a heart for the Lord and for His glory out of response to all that He is doing for you and POPCS On the next few pages you will see a list of activities and events that happen throughout the year on campus Please prayerfully consider how you might become connected Don t worry that you may not have the skills or abilities necessary Simply remember God does not call the equipped He equips the called We pray you find your calling here A great way to get started is to click on the volunteer button in the POPCS app There you will find a link to the volunteer survey which helps us gather information about the areas in which you are interested in serving Our primary source of organizing volunteers is through SignUpGenius All current SignUpGenius links can be found by clicking on the volunteer button in the POPCS app Prior to each event other communications such as social media posts app notifications and texts will be sent out with more information Our prayer is that you find at least one way to be connected in our community and to partner with our faculty and staff to ensure every Eagle is WELCOMED KNOWN CONNECTED and PREPARED We can t do this without YOU We know you will be blessed as you see how the Lord is using you at our school Be devoted to one another in love Honor one another above yourselves Never be lacking in zeal but keep your spiritual fervor serving the Lord Romans 12 10 11 Therefore at POPCS we desire to foster a heart of service in our students with the hope that service to others will become a defining characteristic of their lives To that end we believe that it is our responsibility to provide service opportunities promote them within the school model service through staff participation and encourage students and their families as they look beyond themselves to experience the joy that comes from serving others Rather than earning a required number of service hours we introduce our students to service opportunities and allow them to volunteer as their hearts lead them We do not encourage service out of duty but out of joy and deep gratitude for what Christ has done for them Our philosophy is encapsulated in the following verses Care for others In all the work you are Each of us willingly not doing work the best you should serve our grudgingly not for can Work as if you were neighbors for their what you will get out doing it for the Lord not good to build of it but because you for people Remember them up and want to and are eager that you will receive your not to please to serve God reward from the Lord ourselves 1 Peter 5 2 Colossians 3 23 24 Romans 15 1 2 As volunteers we pray that you will model this philosophy to your students by volunteering for the service opportunities available at POPCS
