WHAT ARE THE AIMS OF THE PROGRAMME Our goal is to enable trainees to become outstanding teachers providing them with varied exciting opportunities to ensure they reach their full potential and continue to influence minds of the future Developing excellent teachers is a core aim of Teacher Training UK We work closely with headteachers and senior leaders to design develop and regularly evaluate the training programme Providing trainees with opportunities which will give them the very best chance to become an outstanding teacher who can help individuals reach their potential and carry a passion for learning with them throughout their lives The Teacher Training UK programme enables trainees to acquire and develop the values commitments personal qualities knowledge understanding and skills that all teachers need It also offers the opportunities to network professionally with colleagues from a variety of contexts and phases which will be essential to continuing professional development as a teacher The Teacher Training UK Programme aims to equip trainees to become effective and reflective classroom practitioners who are confidently and competently able to demonstrate classroom skills in the age and ability range of the phase in which they are training to teach The Teacher Training UK Programme has been designed to give trainees the opportunity to work towards achieving Qualified Teaching Learning and Skills QTLS Since 1st April 2012 teachers with QTLS have been recognised as qualified to teach in schools and the status is recognised as having parity with QTS Qualified Teacher Status 5
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAMME Teacher Training UK implements a curriculum that produces highly skilled teachers Working with experienced educators across the industry ensures our training programme is extensive and cutting edge The programme includes the Diploma in Education and Training an Ofqual recognised accredited teaching qualification The cost of the programme includes the Diploma in Education and Training delivered over a period of 12 month There is the option to pay for theprogramme On completion of the taught programme you over 6 years interest free will be eligible to start a period of professional formation leading to Qualified Teacher Learning Alternatively you are able to apply for a loan and Skills QTLS status independently You will receive a 5 discount if payment is made in full prior to the start of QTLS is awarded by the Society for Education the programme and Training upon completion of the professional development period Holders of QTLS have legal parity with teachers in schools and are therefore not required to serve an induction year prior to receiving a full teacher salary 7
WHAT WILL YOU BE COVERING ON THE COURSE We believe having access to high quality innovative training provided by outstanding teachers enables you to excel in your teaching career Diploma in Education and Training The TQUK Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training DET prepares trainee teachers to teach in a wide range of contexts and requires observation and assessment of practice Teaching practice is a requirement of the qualification The Diploma in Education and Training consists of six modules 1 Introduction to teaching learning and assessment 2 Identifying needs 3 Planning learning 4 Facilitating learning 5 Assessing learning and preparing for the personal tutoring role 6 Evaluating learning You will need to secure a minimum of a 100 hours of teaching and an additional 100 hours teaching learners aged 14 or above if you are working with younger students You will be expected to evaluate your practice after each session and keep a record along with supporting evidence You will be observed for a minimum of eight hours whilst completing the Diploma in Education and Training Qualified Teaching Learning and Skills You can apply for Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills QTLS status once you ve successfully completed the Diploma in Education and Training Once achieved QTLS is equivalent to Qualified Teacher Status QTS in England allowing you to work as a qualified teacher in state schools For more information about QTLS including eligibility and registration visit the Society for Education and Training website English and Maths Candidates must have a good command of English Maths and ICT Information and Communication Technology and have GCSE grades A C or equivalent in Maths and English Candidates will have the opportunity to take an online initial and diagnostic assessment to identify currently level in Maths and English and specific gaps in knowledge in order to develop All elements of the training are designed to be complementary to one another Together they offer trainees a balance of practice and theory so that they can develop classroom skills alongside the knowledge and understanding that underpins these skills and supports their development as an informed and reflective practitioner On completion of the programme you can progress to a BA Hons Education and Training or an MSc in Professional Practice Teaching and Learning Pathway 9
