The Pas Tri-Community Foundation Board of Directors PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE I am thrilled to express my sincere gratitude to the amazing residents from the communities of The Pas, the RM of Kelsey and Opaskwayak Cree Nation (OCN), the dedicated board members, and everyone who has supported The Pas Tri-Community Foundation Inc. through the years. Your generosity has fueled our growth and enabled us to award $3600 in grants to local organizations in our first year! Cranberry Portage Child Family Resource Centre, Opaskwayak Education Breakfast Program, and The Pas HandiVan each received $1200. This is just the beginning – with your continued support, we aim to grow the size of our endowment fund over the next five years, increasing our ability to award to more impactful community projects and scholarships. Over the past couple of years, we've made significant strides in board development by welcoming new members from our diverse communities. This inclusive approach ensures that we will be well-equipped to address the unique needs of The Pas, RM of Kelsey, and OCN. If you have any questions about The Pas Tri-Community Foundation, are interested in donating, creating a fund, or joining our board, please reach out to any director or contact us at contact@ tptcf.ca. Together, we can build a brighter future for generations to come. Sincerely, Jill Wilkinson, President, The Pas Tri-Community Foundation Inc. THANK YOU! THE PAS TRI-COMMUJITY FOUNDATION TYPES OF FUNDS MEMORIAL FUNDS Memorial Gifts are a thoughtful way of honoring the memory of a family member, friend, or colleague who has passed away. Very often, families of the deceased prefer gifts to a charity be made in lieu of sending flowers. Memorial Gifts made to The Pas Tri- Community Foundation Inc. qualify as a charitable donation. Donors will receive a tax receipt, and the family of the deceased will receive a card acknowledging your gift. A memorial gift to The Pas Tri-Community Foundation remembers your loved one each year in our printed Annual Report and on our website. DESIGNATED FUND (Restricted) The donor specifies one or more charitable organizations to be the perpetual beneficiaries of the annual income (no receipts necessary – CF just releases the funds to the charity each year). Your fund will provide perpetual support for your favorite organization(s). Designated Funds enable a donor to select one or more grants from their fund and provide a consistent source of support on which a charity can rely on. DONOR-ADVISED FUNDS Similar to a private foundation, a Donor Advised Fund enables individuals and families to establish a charitable endowment fund, receive a donation tax receipt and the donor can make recommendations for distribution, generally on an annual basis. Grants can be given to any registered charity or any of our Focus Areas. AGENCY FUND A type of designated fund where the original donor is a charitable organization that has set up an endowment fund to ensure its financial stability in the long term. Agency Funds are established through formal agreements between the community foundation and local charitable organizations who are interested in building endowment funds as part of their financial strategy. In most cases the purpose of the fund will be to generate and distribute earnings to the Organization to be used at their discretion to meet their charitable mandate. UNRESTRICTED FUND (General, or Undesignated Community Fund). These are the most flexible gifts that a donor makes. The Board of Directors is given the discretion to make grants from annual earnings for a broad range of community needs. Discretionary (unrestricted) gifts enable the Community Foundation to respond to changing community needs from year to year while perpetuating donor generosity. The fund may be named after a donor or become part of a common pool of similar gifts. select one or more grants from their fund and provide a consistent source of support on which a charity can rely on. FIELD OF INTEREST Can be created by donors who have a specific area of interest or cause the wish to support. The Board of Directors selects appropriate organizations and projects each year to fulfill the donors’ wishes. Requires a separate Grant Application.
