Welcome to TCR!TCR was established in 1972 to provide affordable early education options to families living in rural Talladega, Clay, and Randolph counties. Since our humble beginnings, TCR has always placed the families we serve first. Families and their diverse needs are the reason for our growth and continued success. TCR’s mission statement, Programs for a Brighter Future, sums us up! With programs that support families in all stages of life, TCR is there. Cheaha Regional Head Start is a comprehensive early education program for eligible children from birth to age 5. From early math and reading skills to confidence and resilience, we help children build the abilities they need to be successful in school and life. Our Head Start program engages parents as partners with their child’s teacher and works closely within our service region to adapt to what each community needs. Child Care CentralSUBSIDIZED CHILD CAREChild Care Management AgencySubsidized Child Care provides income eligible families with financial assistance to offset the cost of early education tuition. To qualify, families must be income eligible, a student in an allowable option, or referred for services through the Alabama Department of Human Resources Jobs Program, Protective Services, or Foster Care Families. Subsidized care affords families the benefit of stable employment and the security of knowing their child is being cared for in an option that best suits the family’s needs. For many of Alabama’s families, subsidized childcare is a lifeline to work, economic security, and happy, healthy children.The Child Care Central subsidy team, working as a Childcare Management Agency, serves families and child care providers located in four regions. Offices are conveniently located in Birmingham, Mobile, Talladega, and Tuscaloosa. The Child Care Central team assists more than 22,300 children receiving financial assistance.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENTQuality Enhancement AgencyThe profession of an early childhood educator is ever-changing as children are learning earlier and faster than ever before. Child Care Central’s Professional Development provides opportunities for early childhood educators to be their very best in the classroom.Services provided include:Free professional development — onsite, online and special conferencesResource rooms — supplies like bulletin board materials, activity boxes, die cuts and more are available in resource rooms on the campuses of Athens State University, Gadsden State Community College (Anniston and Gadsden), Northwest Shoals Community College and Wallace State Community College.Child Care Central Professional Development has two main offices, with locations in Talladega and Huntsville.For more information: tcrchildcarecorporation.org/child-care-central-pro-development

Early Head Start Child Care Partnerships (EHS-CCP)EHS-CCP collaborates with licensed child development centers in Jefferson County to provide high-quality care for infants and toddlers, meeting Early Head Start standards. Children receive comprehensive screenings (health, dental, vision, and developmental) and services, including:• Low teacher-to-child ratios (1:4)• Qualified staff with ongoing development• Free USDA-compliant meals• Flexible hours for working families• Family engagement and education opportunities

Parents as TeachersParents as Teachers Home Visitation Program (PAT) is a free and voluntary program designed to work with parents of young children ages birth to 5. PAT aims to increase parent knowledge of early childhood development, improve parenting practices, provide early detection of developmental delays and health issues, increase children’s school readiness and success, and prevent child abuse and neglect. Parents as Teachers builds strong communities, thriving families and children who are healthy, safe, and ready to learn.Children Don’t Come with Instructions. The Parents as Teachers® Program Does.

Jakalinn a single mom has continued to work hard towards goals she puts in place and move forward with perseverance and determination. She has been dealt dicult cards but has proven her strength each time..Success Story

Team OneTeam One partners with the Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR) to provide statewide case aide staff to help protect children from abuse and neglect and to help families overcome barriers preventing a successful family life.

FAMILY SERVICES CASE AIDESAides assist and support Alabama’s DHR to increase the likelihood of keeping children in a safe, clean environment – preferably their own home by providing basic household support, which include basic living and parenting skills, transportation, and supervised visitations. The overall goal is the prevention of removal of a child from the home (or achieving re-unification of a family). FAMILY SELFSUFFICIENCY CASE AIDESParaprofessional support services are provided to recipients of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) to help parents transition from welfare to work by overcoming barriers to employment by providing marketable job skills, educational skills, instructions on how to find and retain employment and transportation.ADULT PROTECTIVE SERVICE CASE AIDESAdult Service Case Aides help with needed services and general household support activities that are designed to increase the likelihood that Adult Protective clients will be able to remain in the home in a safe, sanitary environment and reduce the risk of neglect, abuse, and exploitation to vulnerable adults and prevent inappropriate institutionalization.

HERE ARE SOME KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:• Pioneering role as one of the first Child Care Management Agencies and Quality Enhancement programs.• Expansion of Head Start and Early Head Start services to cover a six-county region in east Alabama.• Vital support provided to all 67 county Department of Human Resources offices through case aide services.• Participation in the inaugural eight pilot Alabama First Class Pre-K programs.• Grown from initially serving 2 counties to now serving 15 in the Parents as Teachers (PAT) home visitation program.• Active involvement in the Early Head Start Child Care Partnership.• Efficient processing of payments to childcare professionals through the Child Care Workforce Stabilization Bonus and Capacity grants.As we look ahead, TCR remains committed to its goal of sustained growth, achieved through ongoing professional development, enhanced capacity, and the provision of services that positively impact families.
