OPENING DOORS TO THE FUTURENearly eight years ago, the legacy of the Ursuline Sisters and the mission of the former Chatfield College drew me to serve as a board member. In this last year, when the doors of the college closed and a new nonprofit, The Chatfield Edge, opened, my desire to serve underrepresented and marginalized students increased. While the delivery model of Chatfield’s original mission has changed, our commitment to non-traditional and first-generation students remains strong. The board is grateful for Robert (Bob) Elmore’s leadership as he shepherded us through the challenges of Covid-19 and declining enrollment. He brought sophistication, strategy, and the foresight to know that there was some-thing more. We are thrilled that Bob will continue to lead The Chatfied Edge in his role as Exective Director. Thank you, Bob, for moving us forward into The Chatfield Edge with confidence, grace, and courage. In recognition of Bob’s dedication and service to Chatfield College and The Chatfield Edge, the Board of Trust-ees has initiated the Robert P. Elmore Honorary Endowment Fund. (See Page 14 of this report.)Support from the former college faculty, sta, alumni, donors, students, volunteers, and the Ursuline Sisters was essential to our transition, and we are most appreciative that your belief in our mission now allows us to extend our reach into the community in new ways. The four pillars upon which The Chatfield Edge is built are illustrated on Page 4 and the students highlighted on Pages 6-7 assure me that our foundation is solid, and our future is bright. As you read about the successes of the past year on the following pages, I encourage you to commit to engaging with us during the year ahead. The mission of The Chatfield Edge is an extension of the 178-year-old Ursuline legacy of education and servant leadership. With your support, we will address today’s ob-stacles and tomorrow’s challenges so that every member of our community can achieve success in life through education. With deep gratitude,Tommie LewisChair, Board of Trustees3A MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

From determining the best educational path, to finding financial resources, to practicing job interview skills, and everything in between, students can rely on The Chatfield Edge to be there for every step of the journey.EDUCATION ENDEAVORSThe world of higher education can be dicult to navigate. We work with students to identify strengths and interests; select a college, trade school, or certificate program; and complete financial aid applications.CHATFIELD SCHOLARSFinances are often a challenge for those who want to pursue education.Through the generosity of our donors, we provide scholarships to help bridge the gap after other financial aid options are explored.FUTURE NOWLong-term support leads to success.Volunteer mentors help our scholars navigate challenges, stay on track with their goals, and network with others who support their success.SERVANT LEADERSTaking time to reflect and serve others empowers people to live their values. We welcome and accept scholars of all faiths or no faith and oer opportunities for community service and retreats rooted in our Ursuline legacy. 4A NEW VISION

I also have a responsibility to future students. If the donors don’t see me using their money wisely, they won’t continue to give. I was afraid I couldn’t take tests anymore or remember any of the math I learned in high school. After meeting with Chatfield, it wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be. – Alissa Woods

WHY SUPPORT THE CHATFIELD EDGE?DEBRA BARBERDebra Barber graduated from The School of the Brown County Ursulines in 1972. She then took summer classes at Chatfield College to help her complete her undergraduate degree on time after she missed a semester amid health concerns. Today, Deb serves on the BCU Alumni Association (BCUAA) board, which sponsors several scholarships for The Chatfield Edge. “Chatfield has always been very important to me. It has a place in my heart,” reflected Deb. When Chatfield College announced its transition to The Chatfield Edge, Deb was excited. “We’ve concentrated so much on college for people, but we really need a diversity of trades and professions. So, I’m excited that The Chatfield Edge will be helping people get into trade and apprenticeships and the jobs we need every day.” Deb is a donor and one of The Chatfield Edge’s first volunteer mentors. “I always find I get more out of giving than what I’m actually giving. So, I can’t wait to get my first scholar to mentor and help along the way.” We are grateful for the many ways Deb gives freely to support our mission!JUSTIN PAPPACHANJustin Pappachan, a student at the University of Cincinnati (UC), is the newest board member of The Chatfield Edge. While doing a Google search for volunteer opportunities, he came across our website and immediately connected to our mission. Growing up in a middle-class family in a Cincinnati suburb, Justin knew he would attend college and acknowledged his supportive parents and privilege in being able to do so. Once he started his studies at UC, he quickly realized that not everyone arrives on campus with the support they need to succeed and not everyone stays. “It’s never just one thing that can send someone spiraling,” he noted. “It can be finances, coursework that’s too hard, unexpected life events, and relationship challenges.” For the past two years, he’s watched talented students leave college due to anxiety, financial hardship, and the inability to keep up with academic rigor. “I really wanted them succeed but life wasn’t just right for that to happen.” In May, Justin recruited a group of UC students to help set up for The Chatfield Edge’s Scholarship Brunch. After meeting some of our scholars, his passion for helping others led him deeper into our mission and the organization soon realized that his wisdom, experience, and vision would be assets to our board. Justin hopes to engage other UC students as mentors for The Chatfield Edge. “We are students, too, so we can relate to some of the stress. We can guide returning students by connecting them with a student in their same major who can help them manage workflow and meet deadlines. And sometimes people just need someone to talk to.” 8GET INVOLVED IN THE MISSION OF THE CHATFIELD EDGE

HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT THE CHATFIELD EDGE?BECOME A MENTORThe Chatfield Edge believes that education is the pathway to success and for some students, that pathway can be challenging. One of the keys for success on that journey is the support of a mentor. A vital pillar of The Chatfield Edge, mentoring provides support and encourage-ment as a student journeys through their educational career. A mentor can provide that extra layer of positive support that so many of us need. Do you have one hour a month to oer support to one of our scholars? We provide training and The Chatfield Edge sta is always here to answer questions and we will support you as you support the student. If you are interested, go to https://chatfieldedge.org/mentoring/ to get started!HELP A STUDENT FIND USDo you know someone who might be ready to take their educational goals to a new level and could benefit from some extra support on their educational pathway? Our financial stability remains very good because of our generous donor support complemented by our conservative fiscal policies. Total assets are over $11M and liabilities just under $1.3M. We had an operating deficit of $700K for the fiscal year attributed to the organizational transition from Chatfield College to The Chatfield Edge. Going forward our expense level is projected to be $700K excluding depreciation and interest expense. 10FINANCIAL RESULTS | 2022-2023THE CHATFIELD EDGE SOURCES OF REVENUEEVENTS20.7%OTHER INCOME 0.7%FY2023DONATIONS13.2%FEDERAL &STATE GRANTS23.6%INVESTMENTINCOME21.6%FEE FORSERVICE20.2%Events $ 343,916 Federal & State Grants $ 393,485 Investment Income $ 360,881 Fee for Service $ 339,371 Donations $ 220,432 Other Income $ 11,704 Total Revenues $ 1,669,789 SOURCES OF REVENUE

The Board of Trustees of The Chatfield Edge is pleased to announce the establishment of the Robert P. Elmore Endowment Fund. Robert (Bob) joined Chatfield College in 2014 as Vice President and Chief Operating Ocer and, in 2019, was named the sixth president of the college. When Chatfield College closed in December 2022, Bob worked with the Board of Trustees to continue the educational legacy of the Ursulines of Brown County in the form of a new non-profit, The Chatfield Edge. If you wish to honor Bob’s commitment and dedication to our mission, you can make a gift in his honor by contacting the Development Oce at The Chatfield Edge at 513-875-3344 or through our website at http://chatfieldedge.org/give/. (Select the Robert. P. Elmore Honorary Endowment Fund in the drop-down menu.)LEAVE A LEGACY THROUGH A SCHOLARSHIP AT THE CHATFIELD EDGEAnnual and endowed scholarships benefit first-generation and non-traditional students attending college, trade school, and a certificate program. Anyone can contribute to an existing annual or endowed scholarship. An endowed scholarship allows a donor to leave a permanent legacy through a named scholarship, benefiting generations of future students supported by The Chatfield Edge. A minimum principal of $25,000 provides an annual $1,000 scholarship. Donors can add to the endowment at any time and roll the additional financial returns into the principal amount which grows the scholarship and strengthens the endowment. To establish an endowed scholarship or learn more about annual scholarships, contact The Chatfield Edge Development Oce at 513-875-3344.THE MIRIAM SOCIETYThe Miriam Society, named in honor of Sr. Miriam Thompson, founder and first dean of Chatfield College, is a group of dedicated donors who are leaving a legacy of support through a planned gift. Through bequests, life insurance, retirement assets, charitable gift annuities, and other gift vehicles, members of the Miriam Society support educational opportunities at The Chatfield Edge. We are grateful to the donors listed below who have remembered and notified us of their planned gift. Please contact your financial or legal advisor to learn more about the benefits of planned giving.
