STANDARD PRECAST FINISHES 1 1 AS CAST I E FORM FINISH A form finish hosts cement surface paste that is un broken exposing no internal aggregates 1 2 ACID ETCHED This process uses acid with high pressure water to etch the surface of the concrete An Acid Etch darkens the finish and leaves a sparkle or sugar cube effect This finish could be replaced by Taracon Brushed Finish 1 7 5 TARACONPRECAST COM 218 498 8507 ESTIMATES TARACONPRECAST COM

STANDARD PRECAST FINISHES 1 3 ABRASIVE BLASTED E G SAND BLASTED This process uses a blasting material to abrade away the surface The result creates a dull color and typically frosts and lightens the finish this can be replaced by Taracon Hammered Finish 1 8 1 3 1 Blast Light Exposure 1 3 1 1 The surface skin of cement and sand is removed just sufficiently to expose the surface of the coarse aggregate This finish could be replaced by Taracon Hammered Finish 1 8 2 1 3 2 Blast Medium Exposure 1 3 2 1 A further removal of the matrix exposes approximately the same area of both coarse aggregate and matrix This finish could be replaced by Taracon Hammered Finish 1 8 3 1 3 3 Blast Deep Exposure 1 3 3 1 Cement and fine aggregate are removed to a depth where the coarse aggregate becomes the dominant surface feature This finish could be replaced by Taracon Hammered Finish 1 8 4 6 TARACONPRECAST COM 218 498 8507 ESTIMATES TARACONPRECAST COM

STANDARD PRECAST FINISHES 1 4 EXPOSED AGGREGATE SURFACE RETARDER This process uses a chemical surface retarder which is applied onto the forms prior to casting This results in exposure of the aggregate while preserving its natural beauty and texture Note the different depths of retarder to create different depths of aggregate exposure 7 TARACONPRECAST COM 218 498 8507 ESTIMATES TARACONPRECAST COM

TARACON PRECAST PREMIUM FINISHES 1 8 HAMMERED 1 8 1 Bush Hammered Hammering is produced using impact tools to remove mortar and exposed aggregate Producing architectural concrete finishes ranging from a scaled texture to deep aggregate exposure It allows control over the desired finish versus blast techniques Factors like hammer type size and striking angle determine aesthetic outcome 1 8 2 Bush Hammered Light 1 8 2 1 The surface skin of cement and sand is removed just sufficiently to expose the surface of the coarse aggregate 1 8 3 Bush Hammered Medium 1 8 3 1 A further removal of the matrix exposes approximately the same area of both coarse aggregate and matrix 1 8 4 Bush Hammered Heavy 1 8 4 1 Cement and fine aggregate are removed to a depth where the coarse aggregate becomes the dominant surface feature 1 8 5 Hammer Brushed 1 8 5 1 After being Bush Hammered the precast is then brushed leaving a final finish is smooth to the touch and has a polished glossy finish appearance with deep exposed aggerate Available in Light Medium and heavy brushed exposure like Hammered Bush texture is different TARACONPRECAST COM 218 498 8507 ESTIMATES TARACONPRECAST COM 12

CUSTOM FINISHES FINISH COMBINATIONS 1 9 INLAYED SIGNAGE AND LOGOS At Taracon Precast we can incorporate your logo signage brand elements or design inlayed directly into precast panels 1 10 FORMLINERS Since precast concrete is cast into forms a variety of shapes and details can be accomplished in precast concrete Formliner can also be used especially when repetitive patterns or unique textures are needed 1 11 BUILD UP Finish requiring projection and or less than 30 of the panel offset from form surface 1 12 GRAPHIC CONCRETE This finish utilizes special retarder printed casting paper to transfer images onto the precast concrete 1 13 TERRAZZO A composite material consists of chips of marble quartz granite glass or other suitable material set into cement TARACONPRECAST COM 218 498 8507 ESTIMATES TARACONPRECAST COM 13

CUSTOM FINISHES FINISH COMBINATIONS 1 14 VENEERS Precast can be veneered or embedded with many traditional materials These include brick tile and terra cotta which are usually embedded or cast into precast and natural stone veneers like granite limestone and marble which are typically veneered via pins or connectors This allows for differential movement between these materials which are often large sections Precast offers a faster more durable and sustainable method to build with these materials 1 14 1 Inlayed Thin Bricks Thin brick wall panels create the look of a traditional brick structure but with the cost and time saving benefits of precast We use natural clay brick products cast into the precast wall panel to achieve this finish This Finish could be replaced by a Taracon Brick 1 15 TARACONPRECAST COM 218 498 8507 ESTIMATES TARACONPRECAST COM 14

PRECONFIGURED FINISH EXAMPLES 1 15 Taracon Brick This can be a budget friendly form poured brick using any of our polished brushed or hammered brushed finishes along with a low profile form brick form liner 1 15 1 Taracon Blended Brick This variation of Taracon Brick adds accents of thin brick with the standard form poured Taracon Brick creating an aesthetically pleasing design The precast is given a brushed finish that gives a unique smooth texture The thin brick is also brushed to give it the same smooth to the touch finish as the Taracon Brick TARACONPRECAST COM 218 498 8507 ESTIMATES TARACONPRECAST COM 15

PRECAST COLOR OPTIONS COLOR Design flexibility is possible in both color and texture of precast concrete by varying aggregate and matrix color size of aggregates finishing processes and depth of exposure Combining color with texture accentuates the natural beauty of aggregates Color and consequently color tone represents relative values They are not absolute and constant but are affected by light shadow density time and other surrounding or nearby colors PCI COLOR SELECTION GUIDE Color selection should be made under lighting conditions similar to those under which the precast concrete will be used such as the strong light and shadows of natural daylight Surface texture influences color The building s appearance is a function of the architect s use of light shadow texture and color TARACONPRECAST COM 218 498 8507 ESTIMATES TARACONPRECAST COM 16

CEMENT Cement plus coloring agent exerts the primary color influence on a smooth finish because it coats the exposed concrete surface As the concrete surface is progressively removed and aggregates are exposed the panel color increasingly exhibits the fine and then the coarse aggregate colors Nevertheless the color of the cement always has an effect on the general tone of the panel Cement may be gray white or a mixture All cements have inherent color and shading differences depending on their source PIGMENT Pigments and pigmented admixtures often are added to the matrix to obtain colors which cannot be obtained through combinations of cement and fine aggregate alone White Portland cement will produce cleaner brighter colors and should be used in preference TARACONPRECAST COM 218 498 8507 ESTIMATES TARACONPRECAST COM 17

Page 18

FINE AGGREGATE Fine aggregates have a major effect on the color of White and light buff colored concrete and can add color tones when the surface is given a shallow profile to increase their exposure COARSE AGGREGATE Coarse aggregate colors become dominant as the surface of the concrete is removed to obtain a medium or deep aggregate exposure profile Some finishing processes change the appearance of aggregates Sandblasting will give the aggregate a matte finish while acid etching may increase their brightness Exposure by retardation normally leaves the aggregates unchanged PAINTING AND STAINING Precast concrete can also be painted or stained This is most common when precast is left exposed to serve as the interior finish for a project Often these surfaces receive smoothtrowel finish In some applications the exterior walls have been painted or stained as well but this approach will require maintenance in the future TARACONPRECAST COM 218 498 8507 ESTIMATES TARACONPRECAST COM 18
