WHAT WE DO The SYG Fund is a continuous source of support The best way to end homelessness is to prevent homelessness by identifying and working to eliminate its root causes SISTER YVONNE GELLISE Our goal is to be a stable and reliable support for partner service agencies while moving closer towards making homelessness rare brief and nonrecurring The SYG Fund focuses on the root causes of homelessness by providing funding for essential and often underfunded supportive services like case management The endowment is distributed to qualifying partner agencies that provide permanent supportive housing PSH services As an endowment the SYG Fund is independent of economic crisis turbulent times and does not depend on fluctuating funder priorities This allows the SYG Fund to be permanent and reliable We provide the necessary support to keep people HOUSED MEETING THE NEED Our goal is to support 500 affordable housing units per year with an annual cost of 5 000 per housing unit In order to reach this goal the long term endowment valuation goal is 60 million This amount allows for the distribution of 2 5 million per year to support permanent supportive housing services Interested in donating to the SYG Fund We need your help to meet our community s need To donate scan the QR code EVERY DOLLAR IT IS HUMANE Everyone deserves a home PSH offers housing essential support services COUNTS PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PSH IS OUR SOLUTION WHY IT IS COST EFFECTIVE It costs just 40 day to serve a household in PSH compared to higher costs for emergency services IT IS WORKING 96 of PSH households maintain housing once they get supportive services 96 The need to build an endowment a fund in the community s control that would not be subject to outside federal or state budget reductions for human services though a daunting task is an initiative that I felt was important to engage in Norman Herbert SYG Fund Cabinet Chair
