ACADEMIC CORRESPONDENCE GRASP Summer Academic Review Gr K 8 GRASP is an academic workbook correspondence program designed for students to reinforce math and reading skills learned during the school year just completed Students complete nine lessons in math reading or both over the summer Each lesson takes about one hour to complete They mail their answer sheets to Community Education for correcting and receive their scores back in the mail Students will receive their workbooks in the mail after the end of the current school year We recommend you indicate the grade the student is just completing in the 2018 2019 school year This is an opportunity to review the past year s material Sample workbooks and content areas are on display in the Northrop Education Center Main Office Call Community Education with any questions at 507 328 4000 Indicate grade level on each subject on the registration form 3090 401P Math Reading 67 3091 401P Math 38 3092 401P Reading 38 GRASP registration deadline is May 17 2019 Registration after the deadline will be limited as workbooks may not be available Please return all lessons to Community Ed by August 23 2019 Math By Mail Standards Based Practice Gr 5 9 It s Back Keep young minds active with the locally developed Math By Mail curriculum Math practice accompanied by enrichment activities for the upcoming summer months Created by current middle school math teachers with 45 years of combined experience Minnesota State Standards Math Frameworks MCA strands and current Minnesota Benchmarks are the foundational basis for this curriculum With creative problem solving multiple choice short answer and vocabulary embedded into an 8 week course of independent study students will maintain or increase the level of their math understanding in addition to reviewing the recommended targets suggested by grade level in the Minnesota School Academic Standards for mathematics Each student will be given a pretest to assess the appropriate skill level necessary to strengthen their individual math needs unlike other programs that are exclusively grade level driven Information will be sent out the second week of June Students will receive an 8 lesson packet to complete at their own pace throughout the summer No registrations after June 30th As students finish packets they are mailed back for feedback and then returned to the students All packets are due back by August 10 in order to provide timely feedback before the 2019 school year begins 3080 461P 92 Use 2019 20 grade level when registering Partnership class Update your child s health information See pg 38 for more info 3
