California Nevada and Hawaii – that covers a lot of territory. I have been traveling all over ourDistrict during my year as Governor. I've seen lightning, thunder, rain, and punishing heatduring my visits to all of our divisions. Another thing I've seen is the tremendous service thateach of our clubs brings to the children and young people our clubs are dedicated to serve. Itis really inspiring for me to see all the service projects in which our clubs engage to serve thechildren of the world one child and one community at a time.We are nearing the end of the year for the FORWARD team. During my year as Governor, Ihave been emphasizing the importance of building membership throughout our district. Whileour members can do tremendous things together, all of us know that more hands mean moreservice and more help to the children. We have seen growth in our clubs and divisions. Weowe our thanks to those clubs and divisions that have taken the extra effort to expand andbuild Kiwanis clubs throughout the District. However, we need to continue that growth not onlythrough the end of September but through the next year as well. In October, our new Governor, Steve Geraci, will take over. I will be working with him tocontinue the growth that we have seen this year, expanding our existing clubs and buildingnew clubs throughout California Nevada and Hawaii. When our District membership teamcontacts your Lieutenant Governors and club presidents, please take the time to step up andhelp us strengthen Kiwanis and strengthen our communities. Building our capacity for serviceis critical to making our organization attractive to new members. We need those newmembers, and we need your help. Thanks to everyone for a tremendous year as District Governor - it has truly been one of thegreat experiences of my life!2024-2025 CNH DISTICT GOVERNOR03Doug Frost

My Thank you to the Cal-Nev-Ha District of Kiwanis International.Looking back on my 37 years in Kiwanis I only see the good in Kiwanis. Our Service Leadership Programs arejust the best. My first assignment was as the Kiwanis Advisor to San Diego High School. I was able to workwith the Presidents and Lt. Governors, was even invited to some of their weddings after college. I am only sad to see our membership dropping. We need to trumpet our story to all that will listen, encourage our younger community members to get involved in Life.In my years of service to Kiwanis I have served as Club President, Lt. Governor, the 3 year trip to DistrictGovernor “Dash For Service” and now as the District Secretary / Executive Director. This will not concludemy service to Kiwanis but redirect my service back to my home club, San Diego.I want to thank you all for the advice you gave, some I even used. My Goal for the District was getting thingson an even track, smooth out the fiscal impact to the District and help each Governor reach their goals. As I transition into this new chapter of my life, I kindly ask for your patience and openness to newpossibilities. Just because we have always done things a certain way doesn’t mean it’s the best approach.Embracing new ideas can benefit us all.The saying goes, “You only live once,” but that’s not entirely accurate; you die once, but you live each dayanew. Embrace life daily and strive to make a difference. Thank you all for the memories! Mark W. McDonaldDistrict Secretary / Executive Director07

As we turn the page on another remarkable year, we find ourselves reflecting not onlyon what we've accomplished, but on what continues to drive us forward: a deep, unwavering hunger for service. Our communities have faced challenges and celebrated triumphs. Through it all, ourcommitment to serve—fueled by compassion, resilience, and purpose—has remainedour guiding light. Whether it was responding to natural disasters, supporting families inneed, or simply showing up with a smile and a helping hand, we’ve proven that serviceisn’t just something we do, it’s who we are.Our theme for the upcoming year, “Hungry for Service,” is more than a slogan. It’s amindset. It reflects the energy, passion, and purpose that define our District. Let it inspire newpartnerships, energize our teams, and deepen our impact.
