rounding with rickRick Scott, CFRE President, Presbyterian Healthcare FoundationA powerful and deeply personal way for you to express gratitude is with a gift to Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation in your will or estate plan. A gift in your will or living trust, known as a bequest, can solidify a meaningful legacy that otherwise might not be possible. Your gift may be a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate or the remainder after all other provisions are specified. Bequests offer flexibility—so that if your life circumstances change, you can change your giving intention. Consult with legal and tax professionals, who can counsel you on the best approach for your estate giving based on your personal situation. If supporting both charity and loved ones is of interest to you, your advisors can suggest specific strategies for accomplishing both. We’re happy to be a resource for you and your advisors. We can discuss your specific interests and ensure 1) your bequest is well positioned to help us address future healthcare needs; and 2) the language in your estate plan articulates your wishes clearly and precisely. For a no-obligation conversation, contact Ken Thompson, CFRE, at 505-263-3310 or kthompson16@phs.org. Visit our interactive gift planning web site, www.phs.org/giftplanning, for detailed information.Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation (PHF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are proud that PHF is a self-supporting organization, which means that 100 percent of your gi helps to improve health; no portion of your gi supports fundraising or administrative expenses. Learn more about PHF and give online at www.phs.org/foundation.Giving Fueled by GratitudePhilanthropy has been part of Presbyterian since the organization’s founding in 1908. One of our beloved founders, Marion K. Van Devanter (“Mrs. Van”), famously said, “If we can help, we should.” Mrs. Van mailed postcards asking for donations of any amount. Countless people over the years have made charitable contributions driven by a desire to help others—and likely out of a sense of obligation, as Mrs.Van suggests. Current thinking on philanthropy, and backed by data, shows that for many donors, the motivation for giving is also driven by a deeper purpose—a desire to express gratitude. Gratitude is not just a feeling or emotion, but also an action—a tangible expression of thanks and appreciation. An expression of gratitude can take many forms, including philanthropy. And the act itself is beneficial for both the giver and the receiver. For a patient, expressing gratitude can be part of the healing process. For the recipient—a provider or staff member—gratitude is powerful affirmation of appreciation and validation that their work matters. In most every issue of giving, we’re privileged to highlight donors who convey gratitude through their philanthropy. Two features in this issue, our recent Doctors' Day campaign and a major gift for the Presbyterian Robert Wertheim Hospice House, tie back directly to donors expressing gratitude. Is gratitude your motivation for giving? We’d love to hear your story. No matter why you support us, know that your giving is appreciated. We are deeply grateful for your thoughtful support.A Gi in Your Will or Living Trust – Truly the Gi of a LifetimeTrevor HatchellTrevor Hatchell2 Giving | Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation

PresbyterianHealthcare Foundation Board Memberwho’s on boardThrough the years, Trevor’s personal connection to Presbyterian grew. His father-in-law was an anesthesiologist at Presbyterian Hospital in the 1970s, and Trevor’s wife and children were born there. “Presbyterian has just blended into our family. It’s really part of our history,” he says.As first vice president at CBRE, a global leader in commercial real estate, and with his expertise in land transactions, Trevor has worked closely with Presbyterian leadership and the real estate team to find suitable sites for expansion. He was instrumental in the development of Presbyterian Rust Medical Center, the Presbyterian Rev. Hugh Cooper Administrative Center, Presbyterian Santa Fe Medical Center, PRESNow 24/7 Urgent and Emergency Care locations and other facilities.Trevor became connected philanthropically to Presbyterian when he was invited to join the Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation board in 2020. He’s serving in his first officer role on the board as treasurer. It’s a great fit. With his close ties throughout the community and his professional background, Trevor is focusing on developing those relationships with corporate sponsorships that are so important to the Foundation. “It’s inspiring connecting and educating other stakeholders about how important Presbyterian is to our community. We have to tell our story.” Through the Foundation, Trevor and his wife Erica are active supporters of the Richard and Linda Barr Pediatric Chronic Care Program led Stephanie Gehres, MD. They’ve also supported Daffodil Days and are members of the Luminary Circle. Now the Hatchell family connection with Presbyterian is extending to another generation. Motivated by seeing Rachel’s Courtyard from the interstate, Trevor and Erica’s teenage son has started volunteering at Presbyterian Hospital. “He’s always asking me questions about Presbyterian. It’s so inspiring to see his interest,” says Trevor.Trevor HatchellTrevor HatchellTrevor Hatchell’s strong connection to Presbyterian Healthcare Services is personal, professional and philanthropic. And it’s been lifelong. As a young boy, he remembers waiting in the lobby of the original red brick Presbyterian Hospital building for his grandmother, who was a food service supervisor there. She was also good friends with Marion Van Devanter, “Mrs. Van.” “Trevor and his family have deep ties with Presbyterian going back many years. That history fuels his connection to our purpose. He and Erica have been very generous donors, and he has been a great connector to other potential donors and board members.”– Rick Scott Summer 2025 3

"It’s a privilege to be a healthcare provider, as we are allowed to help patients regain their most precious commodity, their health. To be recognized by a patient for providing this care is quite an honor, particularly when it comes with financial benefits to the Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation, which can then pass on these benefits to even morepatients."Lawrence Nair, MD 11-time honoreeIf anybody deserves a day of appreciation, it’s our physicians. From Presbyterian’s operating rooms to our clinics, excellence isn’t just an aspiration for our physicians—it’s something we see in action every day. It shows in the care they provide, and in their compassion for our patients and their families. Our communities are better because of their courageousefforts.Doctors’ Day is a nationwide celebration of the physicians that work relentlessly to keep our communities healthy. This year, over 80 Presbyterian physicians were honored through Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation’s Guardian Angels Program, which offers patients an opportunity to give thanks for the most important moments. Patients and their family members can publicly recognize providers and staff, while making a gift to support an area of interest to them. This year, donors gave over $10,000 in honor of Doctors' Day, and excellent care, compassion, empathy and understanding from our stellar physicians. Please join us in acknowledging the physicians who were honored by donors with Guardian Angel awards as part of this year’s Doctors' Day celebration.Summer 2024 5

Ann Hosfeld honors her late aunt with a generous gift to Hospice CareAnn Hosfeld opened the New Concept Art Gallery in Santa Fe over 15 years ago. That's where her passion for celebrating local artists shines in the detailed curation and display of paintings and sculptures. She sees the potential of creatives around her and the joy that art brings to New Mexicans. Hosfeld’s ability to see the vision of positive impact is what led her to engage with Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation (PHF).GratitudeCarryingthe Torch offeatured donor6 Giving | Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation

Hosfeld was recently tasked with carrying on her aunt’s legacy of giving. Betty Davies was an agent of philanthropic action for most of her life, giving to many charities across the nation. Separated by geography, Davies wrote many letters to Hosfeld toward the end of her life, writing about how hospice care was tremendously valuable during her end-of-life journey. “And suddenly she died and left a lot of information in letters of what she wanted,” said Hosfeld. “And part of that was to donate to an organization like Presbyterian HealthcareFoundation.” After Davies’ passing, Hosfeld knew that her aunt would want to see her money go to a nonprofit organization that has a wide scope of impact across many areas of need, including hospice care. After extensive research and meeting with PHF staff, Hosfeld gifted a generous $120,162 to Presbyterian Hospice Care in honor of Betty. “The reason I chose to support Presbyterian is because normally when you give to organizations, the money goes to just one thing. I like that you offer a variety of funds that can benefit from philanthropic action,” said Hosfeld. “I chose hospice because it’s what my aunt would havewanted.”Hosfeld said that as she gets older, her interest in supporting excellent healthcare is growing, and she hopes to see more individuals give back so that more people can access care in NewMexico. The Presbyterian Robert Wertheim Hospice House is an ongoing fundraising priority for PHF, which has a $500,000 annual obligation for operations of the 10-bed facility. Each year, more than 200 patients receive comfort and care in their final days. A Legacy in Motioncover storyWhen Jim and Lynn Haynes first met at the University of New Mexico in 1976, lile did they know that a building just down the street would play a big part in their professional and philanthropic lives.8 Giving | Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation

Page 9

Lynn would earn her nursing degree and work for Presbyterian for almost three decades, including years as administrator for Presbyterian/Heart Vascular Care. Jim became a CPA at a local firm. As he learned about Lynn’s work and talked with her coworkers, he became increasingly interested in healthcare. He’d always been involved in non-profit organizations and had served on boards. When he was invited to join the Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation (PHF) board in 2005, it was an opportunity for Jim to blend his philanthropic background with his interest in healthcare and for the couple to support the community they’d long been a part of. Jim served on the Foundation board for 18 years and was chair for two years. He’s now an emeritus member. During his tenure, he co-chaired the fundraising campaign for Presbyterian Rust Medical Center. Jim says serving as a board chair during such an important campaign was a challenge but also, as he says, a “blast.” “We got to know so many people in the community, and we did a lot of educating. It was important for us to let people know that Presbyterian is a non-profit. Many people don’t know that.” The Rust campaign was a huge success, raising more than $20 million. Aside from leading a major capital campaign, Jim says it was fulfilling to help fund programs to support employees and other needs, like special equipment. “To me one of the most important things the Foundation does is support staff education, so the community gets even better healthcare.”Planning to be flexibleJim and Lynn have designated PHF as a beneficiary in their estate plan. They’ve chosen to make their gift unrestricted, meaning that the Foundation can use the funds where they’re needed most to support the health and lives of NewMexicans. While Jim and Lynn have supported specific programs during their long involvement with PHF and acknowledge the importance of endowments to support special programs, they agree that an unrestricted gift felt most meaningful to them. “It was important to both of us that the money is spent where it’s needed,” explains Jim. “The Foundation knows where the important needs are and the best way to manage thosefunds.” Lynn adds, “We’re very invested in the success of Presbyterian, and especially of the Foundation and they support they provide. We wanted to give back and we have every confidence that our gift will be managed well by the Foundation.”Summer 2025 9

giving galleryPresbyterian Neuroscience Expands Care for NewMexicansOrganizational and philanthropic support has funded new technology and equipment for neurosurgery, teleneurology capabilities for expanded care statewide, nonsurgical care in areas including low back pain and pain/spine, and advanced training for nurses, EEG technicians and other staff. Continued investment is enhancing early diagnosis, improving patient outcomes, and bringing life-changing treatments for strokes, aneurysms, intercranial bleeding, low back and spinalpain. Since 2021, neurosurgery patient volumes and stroke consultations have doubled, while neurology, and pain and spine clinic volumes have increased by 50 percent. By late summer 2025, Presbyterian will have six neurosurgeons, an inpatient stroke neurology specialist, and three full-time pain specialists. The stroke program remains a cornerstone of Presbyterian Neuroscience. Presbyterian Hospital is a certified Primary StrokeCenter. Our most recent fundraising has focused on raising $1.5 million for a new hybrid operating room at Presbyterian Hospital, which will feature advanced capabilities including the new Phillips biplane system, allowing surgeons to navigate catheters into the brain to treat strokes and tumors, among other things.“Additional investments in more specialists, new technology and expanded services such as neuro-intensive care, spine robotics and advanced MRI imaging will further enhance access and quality of care for the most acute patients with neurologic conditions.” – Barbara Ohm, Vice President, Presbyterian Specialty PracticePresbyterian has expended $15 million since 2022 to provide high-quality, patient-centered neuroscience care in New Mexico and reduce the need for patients to leave the state. An additional $4.5 million from donors to Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation (PHF) has accelerated these transformativeinitiatives.Summer 2025 11
