Scholarship ProgramThe Fitton Center Scholarship Fund gives all students of any age the opportunity to experience a class at the Fitton Center for Creative Arts. We encourage teachers, counselors, family, and friends to invite students who may benet to apply. Applications are available by calling 513 863 8873, ext. 110 or by downloading an application at (fittoncenter.org/scholarships). Scholarships are limited to one class/workshop and one camp per student, per program year.Summer I Scholarship Deadline: April 12, 2024 Summer II Scholarship Deadline: June 28, 2024Camp Weeks 1 – 3 Scholarship Deadline: May 31, 2024 Camp Weeks 4 – 6 Scholarship Deadline: June 28, 2024Ohio ACE Program The Fitton Center has an Afterschool Child Enrichment (ACE) certication from the state of Ohio. Qualied families may apply for reimbursement of up to $1,000 per child per year to attend classes, camps, and workshops at the Fitton Center. Important Update The federal funds used to operate the ACE Program are scheduled to expire later this year. LITTLE ARTIST CAMPS | Ages 5-9Monday-Friday | $74/members, $94/non-members Mad Science Masterminds Camp Instructor | Sharon Theard June 10 – 14 | 10am – 12pmJoin us in the Fitton Laboratory to create art from crazy concoctions and mysterious mixtures! We’ll design our own mad scientist costumes and then begin conducting art experiments. Mixing oil and water, we’ll make lava lamps; using uncanny art supplies like shaving cream and sunscreen we’ll make beautiful works of art on paper, and more! Our hypothesis is that you’ll have fun in this inventive camp!Friends and family are invited to join us during the last 15 minutes of camp on Friday for an art show!Wonderland Camp Instructor | Sharon Theard June 17 – 21 | 10am – 12pm Take a trip through the looking glass! In Wonderland Camp we will make playing card soldiers, a teapot and cups, Cheshire Cat grin masks, and a pocket watch (so that late rabbit can be on time)! In our monster–maker factory you’ll learn to make creature puppets, collages, sculptures and more. Let’s make “ends” at the Fitton this summer! Snowy day self-portrait collages, polar bears in cozy woven sweaters, beautiful winter landscape paintings, and handmade mugs (hot cocoa party included) await artists this week as we escape the summer heat! ONE-WEEK YOUTH CAMPS | Ages 7-12Monday-Friday | $110/members, $130/non-members Art Extravaganza Camp Instructor | Kate Schaich June 10 - 14 | 9:30am - 12:30pm Calling all creatives for a week of boundless art-making! This camp offers artists the opportunity to explore a wide array of media ranging from two-dimensional art forms like drawing, painting, and printmaking to three-dimensional materials like clay, papier-mâché, and ber arts. Meowsterpiece Makers Camp Instructor | Natalie Crain June 17 - 21 | 9:30am - 12:30pm Are you a fan of felines? Do you try and pet every cat you meet? Well, during this camp we will create purrfect works of art to celebrate our love of cats. We’ll sculpt clay cats, design and build our own cat trees, and create some furry cat masks. Print & Photo Camp Instructor | Billy Simms June 24 – 28 | 9:30am - 12:30pm In this camp students will learn printmaking techniques (including monotypes, relief prints, and clay impressions) and use digital photography to create collages, illustrated narratives, and much more!Friends and family are invited to join us during the last 15 minutes of camp on Friday for an art show! Cutie Camp Instructor | Natalie Crain June 24 – 28 | 9:30am – 12:30pm Get ready for cuteness overload during this week of creating whimsical creatures, food with faces, and teeny-tiny things. We’ll make paper squishies, bento boxes with cartoon faces, and lots and lots of animals. Explore a variety of materials including paint, clay, yarn, found objects, and more! Chromatic Creativity: Mosaics Camp Instructor | Lori Kay Farr June 24 – 28 | 1 – 4pm In this colorful camp we will explore the world of mosaics. Campers will create mosaics using a variety of techniques and materials including glass and ceramic tiles. We will create a number of small mosaics that will be grouted at the end of the week. Out of this World Art Camp Instructor | Kate Schaich July 8 – 12 | 9:30am – 12:30pm Create art of intergalactic proportions, as we make all sorts of masterpieces inspired by space! Galaxy collages, spaceship prints, clay stars, and more are on our space explorers’ itinerary as we create some out-of-this-world artworks! Dynamic Digital Illustration Camp Instructor | Sarah Hynfield July 8 – 12 | 9:30am – 12:30pm Learn to make digital art using an iPad, Apple Pencil, and the Procreate app. Campers will learn software navigation, artistic techniques, and how to create a nished artwork. All supplies provided, including technology. However, campers may bring their own iPad and Apple Pencil if desired.Friends and family are invited to join us during the last 15 minutes of camp on Friday for an art show! Sequential Stories: Graphic Novel Camp Instructor | Billy Simms July 15 – 19 | 2 – 5pm Are you an aspiring graphic novelist? Then this is the camp for you! Campers will develop a long-form comic (graphic novel) by developing a plot and script, creating characters, and a setting. The comics created can be one continuous story or a collection of related stories. Eco-Conscious Creations Camp Instructor | Billy Simms July 22 – 26 | 2 – 5pm In this camp we’re going green (but don’t worry, we’ll use other colors, too)! Learn all about upcycling - creatively reusing materials for new purposes! Discover how to transform plastic bottles, caps, fabric, corks, and more into stunning works of art! Aspiring Authors Camp Instructor | Rob Schaich July 22 – 26 | 9:30am – 12:30pm Do you dream of creating your own magical world of superheroes, wizards, or daring explorers of the galaxy, but just don’t know how to get started? Learn how to brainstorm, design, outline, and begin a unique and engaging story that follows the ve-part plot structure. Clay Creations Camp Instructor | Abigail Martin June 10 – 21 | 9:30am – 12:30pm Learn how to hand-build and use a variety of decorating techniques to make works of art with clay! Design and personalize your projects with favorite characters, animals, and patterns. Campers will even get to try out throwing on the pottery wheel! Broadway Bound: Performing Art Camp Instructor | Alison Rampa June 17 - 28 | 1 – 4pm Do you dream of Broadway? Obsessed with musicals? Love singing and dancing? Find your inner superstar this summer in Performing Art Camp! In this camp, you will learn about various age-appropriate musicals, discover how to perform, develop acting skills, and learn how to overcome stage fright! Gain condence, prepare for future auditions, or just have fun this summer in Performing Art Camp. Laugh-a-palooza Comedy Camp Instructor | Alison Rampa July 8 - 19 | 1 – 4pm LIVE! FROM HAMILTON! IT’S YOU! Are you funny? Looking for laughs? Then Comedy Camp is for you. Try out improv, sketch, joke writing, and stand-up comedy in a safe and supportive environment. Learn writing and performance skills that you can use at school, at home, and on the stage. My Art Biz Camp Instructor | Billy Simms July 15 - 26 | 9:30am – 12:30pm Do you aspire to have your own creative small business or side hustle? Jumpstart your maker career in this two-week camp designed for young entrepreneurs! Campers will design their own currency and use it to “shop” from a curated selection of materials, each with its own price tag. Using what they “purchase,” campers will get to work designing and creating their inventory. To get their shops up and running, campers will learn about product design, budgeting, branding, and more! Explore a variety of traditional printmaking methods including monotype, relief prints, and dry point. Sewing Squad Camp Instructor | Sewing Squad Camp July 15 - 19 | 1 – 4pm Learn all the basics needed to begin your sewing journey in this camp that covers everything from threading a sewing machine to using a pattern. By creating functional projects like a tissue holder, drawstring tote bag, wrist pin cushion, travel kit, and cell phone purse, campers will learn to condently operate a sewing machine, sew a variety of stitches, neatly nish their projects and more! Creative Campaigns: D&D Design Camp Instructor | Kate & Rob Schaich July 22 - 26 | 1 – 4pm Are you tired of being the rogue that lurks in the shadows, the wizard casting reballs at the undead, or the barbarian raging in battle for what seems like the 10,000th time? Are you ready to be the master of your own fantasy story that can be used to lead other adventurers in your next table-top gaming session? Not only learn the ins and outs of writing the premise for your own adventure, but learn how to write a clever backstory for NPCs and even learn how to design them in the two- and three-dimensional world. Campers will learn to cut, texturize, and form metal. Crushed stone and gems will be added to enhance the pieces. All pieces will be completed in a professional manner, and will be able to be worn when completed. Cut stained glass and tiles to shape into a one-of-a-kind wearable mosaic. While all supplies are included, students may bring their own tiny beads or tiles to incorporate. One mosaic base is included with the cost of the class.Clay Stamps | Ages 18+ Instructor | Amanda Joy Phirman $37/members, $47/non-members 6 - 8pm Summer I: Tuesday, July 2 In this one-day workshop, students will create their own stamps with custom designs using clay. This class will guide you in documenting daily thoughts, emotions, and experiences, exploring layout techniques, and mastering fundamental design principles. Learn to enhance your art journal with various tools; including pens, markers, and mixed-media elements. Experiment with artistic mediums like watercolors, acrylics, and pastels to elevate your personal expression. Creative Aging Painting | Ages 50+Instructor | Chrissy Collopy $95/members, $115/non-members Tuesdays | 12 – 2pm Summer I: April 23 - May 28Wednesdays | 12 – 2pm Summer I: April 24 - May 29Fridays | 12 – 2pm Summer I: April 26 - May 31 This class will introduce students to acrylic painting basics and materials. Students will learn acrylic mixing strategies, color theory, and various approaches to painting, including blending and glazing. Studio+ Packages Studio+ is monitored open studio time for students who have previously taken or are currently taking pottery classes at the Fitton Center. Come use our ceramics studios to perfect your art! Studio+ is great for beginners who need extra time to practice between classes, or professional potters who just need a place to make and re their work. Studio+ can be taken independently or in conjunction with our classes. Hours can be purchased individually or in a bulk package. Hours may be used in any amount, any time Studio+ hours are offered. Purchased hours do not expire until used. REFUNDS Non-Refundable Deposit The Fitton Center for Creative Arts is a non-prot community arts organization. We rely on tuition fees to run our education programming. For this reason, 10% of tuition for all camps, classes and workshops is considered a non-refundable deposit. Refund Policy For Camps, Classes & Workshops Cancelling up to 8 days or more The tuition amount paid less the 10% non-refundable deposit will be refunded if a student wishes to withdraw from a camp, class, or workshop eight days or more before the scheduled start date of said program. Credit card purchases will be refunded via the initial payment method. Cash purchases will be refunded via check mailed to the address provided at registration. Cancellations Within 1 Week (7 Days) No refunds will be issued for any reason within one week (7 days) of the scheduled start date of a camp, class, or workshop. Referring to the information above, if you are eligible for a refund and wish to withdraw from a camp, class, or workshop please contact the Front Desk. CLASS CANCELLATIONS If a class, camp, or workshop does not have sufcient enrollment, affected students will be notied about any changes at least two days before it is due to start. If a class, camp, or workshop must be cancelled by the Fitton Center, students will be refunded 100% of their tuition or can transfer to another open class or session.INCLEMENT WEATHER CANCELLATIONS If the Fitton Center cancels classes due to inclement weather, all students will be notied by phone and closing/cancellation information will be posted on our website, Facebook, and Instagram pages no later than two hours before the scheduled program. If students do not receive a phone call, and do not see an announcement on our website /social media, then all programs are running as scheduled. When classes are cancelled due to inclement weather, a make-up class will be added to the schedule. Students will be notied of the scheduled make-up class by their instructor at the next regularly scheduled class.STUDENT ABSENCES For the best experience, we encourage students to attend the full duration of our camps, classes, and workshops. We do not provide make-up opportunities, pro-rate, or provide refunds for missed classes for any reason.TEACHER ABSENCES If an instructor must be absent due to illness or other unforeseen event, the Fitton Center reserves the right to nd a substitute teacher or cancel a class and offer a make-up date. This allows staff and instructors time to set up and prepare for a class before students arrive.E-MAILS & CLASS COMMUNICATIONStudents will receive an automatic conrmation email from our ticketing website upon registration. This email will contain student’s class scheduling and payment information. We highly recommend saving this email for future reference, though tickets are not required for admittance to class.Students will only be contacted by Fitton Center staff in the event a class is cancelled, otherwise students may assume their scheduled class is running.CLASS SUPPLIESIf a class features a icon, be sure to check the class registration page online to see what supplies are required. If no icon is included all supplies are included with the cost of the class. Please note: classes with low enrollment may be canceled up to two business days before they are scheduled to begin.
