Understanding Today's School libraryThe Hubenak Elementary Library is an elementary school teaching library. Unlike those thatserve the general public, the Hubenak library, instructs six 50-minute classes each day tosix different grade levels from Kindergarten to fifth grade. As a main campus resource, italso develops, maintains, and provides a variety of resources necessary for the success ofeach student's academic growth as well as teachers' instruction, and campus leadership.Like the traditional library, our library offers literature from various genres in a variety offormats from books in print, audio, and online. As today's progressive library, it offers amyriad of online resources in the form of databases, websites, apps and more and thetechnology necessary to support them.

Library StatsCurrently, our library houses approximately 18,000 literary items in the formats of print, audio, anddigital. This does not include those found in many of our databases some housing over 3000 eBooks perindividual database.These resources target students from Pre-K to fifth grade; some in multiple languages.In the form of eBooks, some offer text only while others just audio then there are those that offer acombination of both.These resources are free. Those online are available 24/7.

Currently, the district does not provide technology for student's to take home.Laptops: Currently 600 Laptops with 19 charging carts.iPads: Currently 500 iPads with three charging carts and 69 technology tubs tocharge them. Other Technologies: Desk Top computers, headphones, listening stations,promethean boards and accessories, cameras, webcams, various computeradapters, docking stations, document cameras and so much more.Note: Although not mandated, students can ask their teacher if they can bringtheir own headphones or earbuds to keep in their classroom. Make sure to okaythis with your child's teacher and write your students name in Sharpie permanentmarker. Technology

Classes start at 7:30am and end at 2:30 pm. Currently the Special's classes are on an 8-day rotation (Subject tochange) Each day the librarian teaches 6 classes / each class is 50 minutes /classes are for grades KG – 5thLibrary ClassesThe library is a part of the Special's Rotation.

1 BookKindergarten2 Books1st through 5thThis year the district is mandating that ALL students wear their ID badges. ID badges are worn for safety reasons. For this reason, students will need to have their ID badge in order to check out a book.As a book is returned, a new one may be checked out.If a book is lost or damaged, please check with a library staff member for itsreplacement cost.Payments can be made in the library by check or exact cash. The library is not set upfor online payments.Library Book Checkout

Library Audiobooks CheckoutPlayAway Audio Books are individual devices similar to aniPod.They are reserved for students in grades 3 - 5.Replacement costs range from $35.00 to $60.00.Students must have a permission slip on file.See a library staff member for a permission slip.

Accessing Online ResourcesAll online resources are on ClassLink. They are for school and home use. To locate ClassLink, go to the homepage of the district's website at . The ClassLink tab is to the top left. Click it.Students MUST use THEIR district issued login information to access their personal ClassLinkplatform. If accessing ClassLink on an iPad, students must click 'sign out' to exit ClassLink to preventothers from accessing and using their account.Due to vendor contracts, please do not post any links on social media.https://www.lcisd.org
