Installed close to the draw-off point – either shower or sink –the DHC provides the required volume of hot water at the right temperature.Christopher Pitt, Maintenance Technician at the Maltings said: “Phase 1 was built in 1996, Phase 2 in 1998 andPhase 3 in 2002. We still have a large number of the original water heaters working in phase 1 and 2, easily over150 still coping with students demands.”Furthermore, each flat has a 3.3 kW Stiebel Eltron water heater installed for the kitchen sink. Combined they areusing more than 900 Stiebel products for a better comfort and hot water supply. Small water heaters are powerfuland compact DHW appliances, representing an unobtrusive constant source of hot water. With a capacity of 5 to 15litres, their cost-effectiveness is especially apparent when small amounts of water are required frequently. Theyare run from a standard 230 V socket. Thanks to the highly effective thermal insulation, hot water is availableconstantly, with minimum energy expenditure. An instantaneous water heater is the perfect solution for multi-residential buildings, particularly when space is apremium. Instead of an electric cylinder, an instantaneous water heater can unlock extra space, reduce energy useand the ongoing cost to residents.
QUICK AND EASY DOMESTIC HOT WATER The DHC-E has been installed in 67 bedrooms with ensuite showersThe Royal Agricultural College has made significant investment in the Halls of ResidenceStiebel Eltron hot water heaters have been installed at a large new build Halls of Residence at the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester. The innovative DHC-Es have a 9.6kW output and have been fitted to provide instantaneous hot water for 67 bedrooms with ensuite showers and handwash basins. The DHC-E is a compact electric instantaneous water heater that reliably supplies one or more draw-off points. Up to the output limit, hot water always flows at precisely the required temperature. An electronic control ensures that the appliance output adjusts automatically subject to the temperature of the water supply and the selected DHW temperature.Graham Barton, Estates Manager at the Royal Agricultural College, said: "The units have behaved perfectly - we have tried other water heaters, but have always found the Stiebel Eltron units to be the best and most reliable. Whenever I have needed any assistance, the team at Stiebel Eltron have always been there to help."The DHC-E is the ideal choice for supplying hot water to a single point-of-use such as kitchen sinks or showers, and with a robust electronic control the unit substantially reduces the risk of scalding injuries to children and vulnerable adults. The DHC-E is rated at 9.6kW and differs from conventional storage water heaters.Rather than storing water, it heats water instantaneously as it flows through the unit, offering greater energy efficiency of up to 20% due to the absence of stand-by losses. The DHC-E also has an innovative adjustable temperature control, which delivers water at a controlled constant heat between 86°F (30°C) and 140°F (60°C). The appliance heats water as required to a pre-selected temperature; with no water storage this minimises the risk of the growth of Legionella bacteria and the risk of scalding in any commercial or residential property, such as student accommodation, care homes, sheltered accommodation, leisure centres and hairdressing salons.Stuart Doggrell, Stiebel Eltron UK National Sales Manager, (below) said: “Users need to set the temperature just once and it will be kept exactly the same under all circumstances. The DHC-E is a compact and easy to install unit"The DHC-E range is ideal for use in sec-tors where a duty of care with regards to hot water is paramount, and it meets all L8 requirements for Health and Safety.“The DHC8 9.6kW instantaneous hot water unit is one of our best-sellers in the UK, and this takes the concept even further with a thermostatic control maintaining a constant temperature."The unit has been available in the US for several years and in 2012 it was European CE approved."None of our competitors offer this type of control – the DHC-E really is a unique and intuitive device.“With constant hot water temperatures up to 60°C the heaters provide domestic hot water only when you need it."The unit’s compact design means that installers will not face problems where space is severely limited, and by installing close to point of use, with short pipes, more time, energy and water is saved.”
