Message StartingMy Period

As I get older, my body willchange, and I will get myperiod.

When I get my period,blood comes out of myvagina. That’s normal andhealthy.

I will need to use a pad, orspecial underwear so myclothes do not get stained.

I will change my pad orunderwear every few hoursto stay clean andcomfortable.

If my pad feels full oruncomfortable, I willchange it sooner.

Periods usually lastbetween 4 - 7 days.

Before my period, I mightfeel more emotional, likeupset, frustrated, or sad.This is normal and usuallygoes when my periodstarts.

My lower back, stomach, orchest might feel sore.

A warm heating pad orpain medicine can help mefeel better.

Having my period meansmy body is working the wayit should.

My period is a natural partof growing up. If I havequestions or feel unsure, Ican talk to a trusted adultfor support.
