Anabella's mom was in her kitchenlooking through the windowand she could see Anabellaplaying in the garden.
Then all of a sudden Mary Annrealized Anabella was not there. It happened so fast.
She looked around the yardbut didn't see Anabella,so she stepped outside andcalled out to her.Anabella did not answer.
Mary Ann moved closerto her garden. She peeked betweenthe daisies and petunias, then at the benchin the middle of the wildflowerswhere Anabella loved to sit and sing.
She checked out the swing hangingfrom the willow tree, knowing it was Anabella's secret spotwhere she loved to feelthe fresh breeze in the shade, hidden from the world.
But Anabella wasn't inany of her favorite places.
Suddenly Mary Ann got a chilland she began to worry. She started callingAnabella's name louder, but still no Anabella.
She ran inside andphoned Anabella's daddy.
He came home in no time andthey gathered their neighborsto help look for Anabella.
Soon Anabella's brotherreturned home from schooland joined in the search, along with his friends.
