At Northside Hospital, compassion and community are at the heart ofeverything we do. This Valentine’s Day, our incredible volunteers went aboveand beyond, crafting over 2,000 heartfelt cards to bring love, comfort andencouragement to our patients.Each card was a symbol of kindness, hand-decorated with messages of hope,strength and support. From cheerful illustrations to handwritten notes, thesepersonal touches reminded patients that they are not alone in their journey.Whether battling illness, recovering from surgery, or simply in need of a smile,every recipient felt the warmth of a community that truly cares.For many patients, a hospital stay can be challenging, especially during theholidays. But thanks to the dedication of our volunteers, Valentine’s Day wastransformed into a celebration of love and connection. Downtown Canton was painted pink on October26th as hundreds of community membersgathered for the 4th Annual ‘Think Pink Cherokee’Breast Cancer Awareness Walk. Hosted by theCity of Canton, Downtown Canton and NorthsideHospital Cherokee, this inspiring event unitedsurvivors, supporters and advocates in the fightagainst breast cancer.The morning began with a lively check-in atCannon Park, where participants were welcomedwith smiles, pink ribbons, and an overwhelmingsense of camaraderie. At 10:30 AM, the one-mileinformational walk commenced, winding throughthe heart of Downtown Canton. Along the route,walkers encountered educational stations sharingcrucial breast cancer awareness information,emphasizing the importance of early detection andaccess to care.The energy was electric with live entertainmentsetting the tone for a morning filled with bothcelebration and reflection. From uplifting music toheartfelt survivor stories, every moment was areminder of the strength and resilience of thoseaffected by breast cancer. The walk concludedwith a special reception for all participants,providing a space to connect, share, and honorthose who have battled breast cancer.This year’s walk was not only an emotional triumphbut also a financial success! Thanks to thegenerosity of the community, over $9,000 wasraised to support Cherokee Northside Hospitalbreast care patients. A Morning of Hope, Strength and Community: Recapping the 4th Annual ‘Think Pink Cherokee’ Breast Cancer Awareness WalkThese funds will provide 72 screening mammograms for uninsured breast cancer patients in Cherokee County,ensuring that more individuals have access to life-saving early detection services.The Think Pink Cherokee Breast Cancer Awareness Walk continues to be a beacon of hope, advocacy, andaction. HONORINGTHE LEGACYOF RYAN FIELDSWith heartfelt remembrance, we continue tohonor the life and legacy of Ryan Fields, whosecourageous and dignified battle came to an endon December 12, 2024. A beloved son, brother,friend and colleague, Ryan’s presence left anindelible mark on everyone who knew him. Hispassion for life, love for family, and dedicationto his career were just a few of the manyqualities that made him truly exceptional.Following his passing, a Celebration of Life washeld on February 1, 2025, where family, friendsand colleagues gathered to share memoriesand pay tribute to his remarkable journey.Though Ryan is no longer with us, his impactcontinues to inspire, and his spirit lives on in thehearts of those who loved him.In honor of Ryan and the compassionate carehe received, his family has requested thatdonations be made to the Northside HospitalForsyth 7th Floor Oncology Unit. Thesecontributions will help provide vital resourcesand support for patients and families facingsimilar battles.Donations are still being accepted. The Healthcare Jeopardy game featured a lineupof renowned cardiologists including Dr. VenkateshLakshminarayanan, Dr. Abubakr Chaudhry, Dr.Parham Eshtehardi, Dr. Mary Bergh, Dr. PradTummala, and Dr. Paul Boyce. Hosted by theenergetic Jason Grady and moderated by Dr. JackChen, the event was both educational andentertaining with trivia questions focused on hearthealth.Guests also enjoyed an interactive Jeopardysession, and explored innovative heart healthtechnology with Zoll and Boston Scientific vendors.This night was a perfect blend of education, fun,and community spirit, celebrating Heart Monthwhile supporting Northside Hospital’s mission ofheart health. A New ChapterCelebrating theRetirement ofFoundation ManagerDelane CopeThe Beginning of a JourneyDelane began her career 33 years ago,entering the Foundation with a passion anddrive to give back that would define herprofessional journey. From the early days atNorthside Hospital Foundation to her mostrecent role, Delane has helped build a legacyof excellence and service. Throughout her career, Delane was known forher exceptional work ethic, problem-solvingabilities and leadership. For Delane it was allabout making a difference in the lives of thosearound her—be it her colleagues, clients or thecommunity.Retirement is often seen as the culmination of alifetime of hard work, dedication andperseverance. It marks a transition from thedaily grind to a new phase of life filled with newadventures and opportunities. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Delane will be remembered for her integrity and character.Colleagues often speak of her unwavering honesty, kindness, and ability to foster a culture ofcollaboration. In a world where success is often measured by titles and accolades, Delane has alwaysremained focused on the people around them, understanding that true achievement comes frommaking a positive difference in the lives of others.Farewell and GratitudeAs we say farewell to Delane in her professional capacity, we extend our deepest gratitude for thecountless contributions she has made throughout her career. Her work, passion, and leadership haveset an example for all of us to follow. “Though I’ve only had the privilege of working alongside Delanefor the past nine months, it quickly became clear to me why she is held in such high regard byeveryone who’s had the pleasure of knowing her.
