UPDATES FROM BALL STATE UNIVERSITYBALL STATE UNIVERSITY
ENROLLMENT CONFIRMATIONIt’s that time of the year! As we approach an exciting time for soon-to-be graduating seniors, we want to emphasize the importance of students conrming their enrollment as soon as possible. By conrming their enrollment, students will gain access to exclusive benets including earlier selection of their Orientation date and choosing their desired residence hall and room. As seniors start making their college decisions ocial, we request that students conrm their enrollment through their Cardinal Landing portal. This portal is where they’ve previously received their decision letters, updates on their application status, and more. Considering the FAFSA delays, Ball State will be extending the May 1 deadline of National College Decision Day. More information regarding this deadline will be provided soon. ORIENTATION 2024Incoming freshmen who have conrmed their enrollment to Ball State University will be able to register for Orientation in early April. Orientation is a 2-day program that takes place from the beginning of June through mid-July. To ensure that they are fully prepared, there are critical next steps for students to follow below:1. Conrm their enrollment in their Cardinal Landing portal2. FAFSA UPDATES The 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now available for all eligible students at studentaid.gov. However, there are critical updates that we wanted to make you aware of based upon the U.S. Department of Education (ED) processing. Institutions across the country are not yet receiving FAFSA data. This means that nancial aid oers will be delayed until late April or early May. We realize this is not an ideal situation; however, we have gathered resources to explain these updates and keep you best informed throughout this process. ADMITTED STUDENT DAY 2024Calling all admitted Cardinals! We are inviting all admitted students and theirfamilies to celebrate their admission to Ball State University on April 12, 2024.During this event, students will have the opportunity to:
This event is the perfect time for students to experience life as a Cardinal, makenew friends - maybe meet their new roommate - and familiarize themselves withcampus before classes start this fall. Admitted students can register for thisevent in their Cardinal Landing portal.
• Explore their academic area of interest and engage with faculty in some of their future classroom spaces.• Delve deeper into student life at an activity fair to see how they can get involved and take advantage of campus resources.• Tour any one of our lively residence halls and discover their Living-Learning Community. • Eat on their own in one of our superb dining locations on campus. • Acquire their free and exclusive Admitted Student Day merch.• Learn key next steps in enrolling at Ball State.
WAITLISTED & DENIED APPLICANTSThere is still time to be admitted this fall! Students who have been waitlisted have been notied in their decision letter which can be found in their Cardinal Landing portal. This letter details why the student has been waitlisted and what steps can be taken to have their application reevaluated. If the student is waitlisted due to their GPA, they must submit an updated trimester or semester transcript once nal grades are posted. If the student is waitlisted due to their curriculum or trends, we request that they meet our CORE 40 requirements or show a signicant improvement in their academic performance after having a recent downward trend. For students that have been denied admission, we encourage them to explore our Transfer Flight Path programs. These programs give students the chance to begin their academic journey at Ivy Tech or Vincennes University while still receiving the support and guidance from Ball State advisors. More information about our Transfer Flight paths can be found on our webpage, and students can enroll in one of these programs with this form. NEST PROGRAMOur NEST program is a dual-enrollment partnership between Ball State University and Ivy Tech Community College Muncie. This program is specically for select high school students that applied to Ball State, were waitlisted, and invited to apply to the NEST program.
Participating students will take general education and pre-requisite courses at Ivy Tech’s Muncie campus and take one class per semester at Ball State. NEST students will live in residence halls alongside other Ball State students and be able to participate in most campus community activities. Students who complete the NEST program with a GPA of 2.5 or higher will complete their Indiana College Core requirements and earn guaranteed admission to Ball State as a transfer student. Invitations to our NEST program will be extended to select students in the next coming weeks. Upon receiving an invitation, students must provide their high school counselor’s contact information for a recommendation. Counselors will receive a recommendation form to complete. Ball State Cardinals have a new opportunity to study abroad with the ocial launch of “BSU-in” starting this fall. With Ball State’s partnership with Universidad de las Americas Puebla, students can embark on their next academic journey in the heart of Cholula, Mexico, where they will experience rich cultural heritage, explore unique academic resources, and make memories that will last a lifetime. BSU-in is a semester long study abroad initiative that costs nearly the same as a semester on campus, creating an aordable option for our Cardinals to spread their wings and explore the world. STUDY ABROADOPPORTUNITIESUPCOMING CHANGESCOMING TO CAMPUSIf you’re an alum, you’ll know the Village is the beloved commercial area east of our vibrant campus. We are excited to share that in January, Ball State’s Board of Trustees approved a development agreement for a Village Revitalization Plan that includes additions of a new performing arts center, a select-service hotel, new dining locations, retail stores, and more! These changes will create a lively space centered around arts, culture, and innovation for Ball State students and the Muncie community to connect and collaborate with one another.
