Sara Fetterman Principal August 1 2023 Sprayberry Parents As our families enter campus this year they will be greeted with a view of our new gymnasium and upgraded facilities We are exceptionally grateful that Ed SPLOST has helped to provide us with updated athletic areas across campus in the past few years Our upgraded safety measures at the football stadium and our new weight training facility have been wonderful additions to the program Over the past few months our coaches have worked diligently to prepare our athletes for another great year of Sprayberry Football They have created a true team environment and encouraged player collaboration both on and o the field Players worked in the spring and summer to become stronger and faster athletes A well prepared team will enter the stadium on Friday nights this fall We are committed to supporting our students both inside and outside the classroom Successful students benefit greatly from participation in athletics The environment created by our coaches and sta provides students with the opportunity to work as a group to reach a common goal The benefits of their participation in high school athletics will help them to become well rounded adults We are looking forward to another great year of Sprayberry Football and I am excited to cheer on our next group of Yellow Jackets during the 2023 24 season Go Jackets Sincerely Sara Fetterman Principal Cobb County School District Excellence our Tradition Diversity our Strength Success our Mission 3

Yellow Jackets Football 2023 THE GOLD STANDARD Dear Sprayberry Community I want to welcome you to the 2023 football season I am extremely excited as I enter into my 7th season as Sprayberry s proud head football coach Our football program has done some great things in the last 4 seasons including 3 trips to the playoffs and a 2nd round appearance in 2020 After missing the playoffs in 2021 we were able to get back during the 2022 season Despite our 4 7 record we showed a tremendous amount of growth and progress We lost 3 gut wrenching non region games by a total of 9 points during weeks 2 4 but won enough region games to secure the 4 seed in our region which is extremely challenging In our 3 region wins against John s Creek Lassiter and Pope we outscored our opponents 160 31 We look to build off the progress from last year and are very optimistic for the 2023 season Through offseason workouts burst training offensive and defensive meetings leadership meetings and re establishing the standard of our culture our players have shown outstanding physical and mental growth Since the 2021 football season the program has renovated the entire weight room which includes over 5000 square feet of space 20 new workstations new bars new bumper plates and a plethora of new equipment that will help improve the strength and conditioning program The program has also purchased new shoulder pads new gold helmets and alternative gold uniforms for that first class and traditional look The administration along with the booster club has demonstrated commitment to improving and running a first class program We have also had a number of changes in our coaching staff which include a new offensive coordinator in Coach Ben McLane 2 new defensive line coaches former NFL veteran Brad Trout and Gordon Carr as well as a new DB coach and former NFL veteran Brendan Langley We are excited about these new additions to our program and welcome them to the Sprayberry family Our mantra for the 2023 season is THE GOLD STANDARD or GSD The Gold Standard is a set of morals and ideals of the highest caliber which we strive for on a daily basis It is doing everything the right way and with the best possible effort It means showing up on time for school and team activities respecting each other as teammates and coaches giving the best effort in everything that we do being the best teammate we can possibly be and being loyal and loving to our teammates as we have one common goal in mind and that is to win in everything we do It is a mentality that we have developed since the end of last season through our off season conditioning program work in the weight room and practice throughout the spring and summer It has become a mindset our athletes have bought into Our players will demonstrate these qualities on and off the field and we believe this will help lead to success I want to thank our Principal Sara Fetterman and Athletic Director Phil Henderson for their continued support for our football program We look forward to an incredible 2023 football season and making our school and community proud I would also like to thank our parents the booster club and the business community for all of your time effort and moral and financial support to help make this program special Go Jackets GSD Sincerely Coach Vavra 12
